Тема: THE BEATLES FOREVER (Приложение. Слайд 2)

Teacher: Dear friends! Nice to see you. Today we are going to have a lesson-concert "The Beatles forever". Our students will perform their 10 favourite songs by the Beatles. The fact is that singing the "Beatles" is a hobby for our students and it is already a tradition at parties. These songs are beautiful, so it will be useful and interesting for you to listen to them, to sing the songs with us.

P1: Dear guests! Look at the blackboard! Here you can see photos, postcards, pictures, posters, devoted to the "Beatles". The drawings are made by our hands. So, you see we are fond of singing and drawing as well. We also collect books about the "Beatles".

P2: For us the "Beatles" are forever! The "Beatles" unite the people of different generations and different ages, because their music is wonderful, kind and exciting. (Приложение. Слайд 3)

Teacher: We'll start our lesson with the song "Hey, Jude". It is devoted to John Lennon's elder son Julian Lennon who is also a musician. This is my favourite song and I used to sing it when I was a student.

I. Hey, Jude! Don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let it into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.
Hey, Jude! Don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better.
Any time you feel the pain
Hey, Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For when you know there's a fool
Who plays it cool by making
The world a little colder.

II. Hey, Jude! Don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.
Dadadadadadadadadada
Hey, Jude! Don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let it into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.

Teacher: John Lennon's song "Norwegian Wood" is a real surprise for you thanks to its unusual melody and surrealistic rhymes. The main character is in despair because of his girl's leaving.

P1, P2 (singing):

Once had a girl or should
I say she once had me
She showed me her room
Isn't it good, Norwegian Wood?
She asked me to stay
And she told me to sit anywhere
So I looked around and
I noticed there wasn't a chair.
1 sat on a rug, biding my time,
Drinking her wine.
We talked until two,
And then she said "It's time for bed"
She told me she worked in the morning
And she started to laugh,
I told her I didn't and crawled
off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke, I was alone,
This bird had flown,
So I lit a fire, isn't it good,
Norwegian Wood?

Teacher: The song "Because" is very lyrical and gentle. It is one of John Lennon's compositions, made by him when Joko Ono (his wife) was playing the piano from Betchoven.

P1, P2 (singing):

Because the world's round
It turns me on
Because the world's round
Because the wind is high
It blows my mind
Because the wind is high
Love is old, love is new
Love is all, love is you
Because the sky is blue
It makes me cry
Because the sky is blue... 16

Teacher: The song "Yellow Submarine" is very popular thanks to the cartoon film "Yellow Submarine" in which the Beatles fight against the pointed monsters with the help of their music, love and justice.

P1- P9 (singing):

In the town where I was born
Lived a man, who sailed the sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of Submarines.
So we sailed up to the Sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine (3)
And our friends are all on board
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play...
We all live in a yellow submarine (3)
And we live a life of ease,
Everyone of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green
In our Yellow Submarine.
We all live in a yellow submarine (3)

Teacher: The popular song "Yesterday" by Paul McCartney is a lyrical ballad. It is performed in thousand versions by other singer s and became the national pride of the English people. P10 (singing):

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they are here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go,
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now
I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday...

Teacher: A splendid song "When I am 64" is made in the style of marriage advertisement, when the young couple ask questions to each other. We want to show you our version of this song. It's devoted to Paul McCartney's parents.

P1-P15 (singing and dancing):

1. When I get older, losing my hair many years from now,
Will You still be sending me a Valentine,
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm 64?
You'll be older too, and if you say the word,
I  could stay with you.

2. I could be hardy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fire side,
Sunday morning, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm 64?

(Приложение. Слайд 9)

Teacher: John Lennon's song "In my Life" is about his youth in Liverpool and it sounds so nostalgically.

P1, P2 (singing):

1.  There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone, but some remain.
All these places had their moments,
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living in my life
I'd love them all.

2.  But of all these friends and lovers,
There is no-one compares with you.
And these memories lose their meaning.
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life, I'll love you more.

(Приложение. Слайд 10)

Teacher: The whole world was shattered by the tragic death of John Lennon in 1980 and the lost of a remarkable man, but he left behind the great heritage.

P1, P2 + Teacher (singing):

Imagine

by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
You may say
I'm a dreamer It's easy if you try
But I'm not the only one
No hell below us
I hope someday you'll join us
Above us only sky
And the world will be one
