Цель урока: Развитие речевых умений учащихся (говорение, чтение, письмо, аудирование, грамматика) и творческого потенциала личности.

Задачи:

  1. Расширить социокультурные знания учащихся по теме.
  2. Развивать умения давать оценку объектам и выражать своё отношение к ним.
  3. Развивать умения выбирать и употреблять в речи лексику, адекватную ситуации общения.
  4. Развивать умения выполнять тестовые задания в формате ЕГЭ.
  5. Воспитывать бережное отношение к мировой художественной культуре.

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, аудиодиск, презентация, видеоролики «7 чудес света», «Петра», «Тадж Махал», раздаточный материал (тексты, таблицы).

Ход урока

I. Оргмомент.

T.: Good morning, girls! Nice to meet you. How are you today? Today at the lesson we’ll speak about ancient and modern wonders. I think you’ll learn a lot of interesting things and get some new information. (слайд 1)

II. Мозговой штурм.

T.: Sir Henry Bate Dudley said “Wonders will never cease”. I think he was right, because there are so many wonders around us. (слайд 2) By the by what does the word “wonder” mean?

P1: Wonder is a feeling of strangeness, surprise etc…

P2: I think wonder is something that causes this feeling, especially a wonderfully made object.

P3: To my mind wonder is a wonderful person who is very clever and skillful.

T.: Well, that’s right. Our world is full of wonders both natural and handmade. What capacity do they have?

P1: They have the capacity to amaze, to astonish, to surprise, to stun, to puzzle, to shock.

T.: What can wonders do?

P2: They can leave me open-mouthed, make my eyes pop out, make my jaw drop, excite my interest.

T.: What words do we use to “praise” wonders?

P3: We use such words as: superb, amazing, gorgeous, marvelous, glorious, outstanding, breathtaking, super, terrific, fantastic, tremendous, sensational, magic, smashing, brilliant.

T.: When we describe wonders we speak about their…

P4: size, height, width, depth, shape, length, material, functions.

T.: What do the wonders do?

P1: They attract people, draw crowds, become a Mecca for tourists.

III. Речевая зарядка.

T.: Let’s check up how well you know the ancient wonders of the world. Look at the pictures and name them.

(слайды 3-9 презентации, учащиеся описывают картинки P1-P2 –P3…)

IV. Аудирование.

T.: I’d like you to know more about ancient wonders. Listen to the text “The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World” and say which of the statements are true, false or not mentioned in the text. (слайд 10)

(учащиеся слушают текст упр. 3 стр. 129, дорожка 13)

T.: I give you 2 minutes to do the task.

(учащиеся выполняют задание)

T.: Well, change your copybooks. Let’ check up your answers.

(слайд 11 ответы) Have you any mistakes? Well done!

V. Развитие грамматических навыков.

T.: Would you like to know more about the Lighthouse in Alexandria? O.K. Let’s do the exercise 43 at page 161. Read the text and change the words in brackets or form new words on their basis to make the text grammatically and logically correct. (слайд 12) Work into pairs, please. I’ll give you three minutes. (учащиеся работают) Well, let’s check up your work. Read one by one, please. (слайд 13) Good for you!

VI. Развитие навыков чтения. Чтение с целью извлечения необходимой информации.

T.: I’d like to know how well you have remembered the main facts about the Lighthouse in Alexandria. Find please the necessary information and fill in this table. (слайд 14) Work into pairs, please.

T.: Well, let’s check up your work. Well done! It’s a pity that almost all ancient wonders except

Pyramids were destroyed by natural disasters: earthquakes, fires and wars.

VII. Развитие навыков говорения.

T.: And what are the new Seven Wonders of the World? You know that they were announced on the 7th of July 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal. The selection was made by free and paid votes, through telephone or online. People all over the world took part in the selection. Name them, please!

(презентация, слайды 15-22, учащиеся называют новые чудеса света)

T.: Your homework was to obtain information about new wonders and represent it to your classmates. Do, please! Sound the video films! (просмотр видеоролика«7 чудес света», учащиеся озвучивают видеоролик)

VIII. Релаксация.

T.: Are you tired? Let’s relax. Sit comfortable and enjoy the presentation about flowers. Flowers are so various and wonderful! We can name them wonders too. Do you agree with me?

(учащиеся смотрят презентацию о цветах «Вьетнамские орхидеи»)

IX. Развитие навыков полилогической речи.

T.: Children, which of the new wonders has excited your interest most of all? Which wonder is the most breathtaking and terrific?

P1: I think it’s Petra.

T.: I agree with you. Imagine that Lena has been to Petra. Ask her guestions in order to know more information about Petra. Do, please. (видеоролик « Петра»)

P 1, 2, 3: What is Petra, I wonder?

Where is it situated, by the way?

Petra was an important center, wasn’t it?

What can people see in Petra nowadays?

How can people get to Petra?

What is the most beautiful building in Petra, I wonder?

What is the best time to see the majesty of Petra?

I’ve heard that Petra was once lost to the Western World for almost 300 years. Is that so?

Petra is now a UNESCO world heritage site, isn’t it?

X. Развитие навыков монологической речи (выражение восхищения).

T.: Children, what is your impression of Petra? Share your feelings, please. (видеоролик «Петра», учащиеся высказывают своё восхищение)

P1: The fact that Petra is a vast unique city, carved into the sheer rock face, left me open-mouthed. It’s super!

P2: I was surprised to know that there are over 800 monuments including buildings, tombs, baths, temples in Petra and they were carved from stone. It’s terrific and worth seeing!

P3: The fact that Petra was lost to the Western World for almost 300 years and was discovered only in 1812 made my eyes pop out. It’s incredible!

P4: I’m astonished to know that Petra is the best in early morning and late afternoon when the sun warms the multicolored stones. You can view the majesty of Petra. I’m sure Petra has become a Mecca for tourists. My dream is to visit Petra.

XI. Развитие навыков чтения с полным пониманием.

T.: Now I want you to read the text “Taj Mahal” in order to know more about this wonder. More than that you should put its parts in the right order. I give you 3 minutes. Read, please!

T.: Are you ready? Which is the right order? (слайд 23) Well done!

XII. Развитие навыков монологической речи (выражение восхищения)

T.: Children, what is your impression of Taj Mahal? Use the text and express your admiration.

(учащиеся высказывают своё восхищение, показ видеоролика «Тадж Махал»)

P1: I’m impressed so much that I want to cry. How glorious and striking it is! I think the Taj Mahal is really a symbol of love and sorrow. And what about you?

P2: As for me I’m surprised to know that it took more than 20000 men working over a period of 18 years to build the Taj Mahal. What can you say?

P3: And I’m astonished to know that the Taj Mahal is 200 feet high and was made of white marble and inlaid with black marble inscriptions from Koran. I can’t believe my eyes! What a beautiful building!

P4: The fact that building materials came from Arabia, Egypt, Tibet and other parts of India made my jaw drop. More than that the best artists and architects from India, Persia, Turkey designed it. The Taj Mahal is unusual and outstanding! It’s a real wonder! It attracts people and draws crowds!
