Цель: систематизировать, расширить и обобщить знания учащихся по теме "Christmas symbols and traditions in the UK", совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся и развивать у них метапредметные и межпредметные навыки. Воспитывать культуру работы в команде по достижению общей цели, умение выслушивать и уважать мнение других.

Ход мероприятия
Ведущий 1: Dear friends, we are happy to see you here, at our Christmas party. We're having a kind of New year and Christmas contest today, so you've been divided into 3 teams: Christmas tree team, Santa Claus team, Happy New Year team. Please, take your seats, choose the captain of each team and get ready to compete.
Ведущий 2: We would like to introduce our honorable jury to you - they are your favourite English teachers.
Ведущий 1: Everyone knows that in English-speaking countries Christmas is celebrated on 25 of December and has a lot of symbols. So, your first task will be to label the pictures matching them with the words given. You have 5 minutes to do it.
Ведущий 2: Now you'll have to name the symbols of the forthcoming Christmas.
Ведущий 1: Now we are inviting you to take part in a Christmas quiz. You are going to answer 12 questions dealing with Christmas symbols as well as with the English language. Each team will have to name 4 Christmas symbols. Let's get started!
Ведущий 2: Well done! Now we are going to play "Crocodile". Do you know the rules of the game? We need one team member to sit on a chair and the other team's member to stand in front of them. The picture of something connected with Christmas will be raised over their head. The member of the other team has to explain what it is - without naming the object or the person they see in the picture. If the explanation is good, both teams get a point.
Ведущий 1: And now it's time to call the best actors! You are drawing lots and choose what kind of Santa Clause you'll be. You have to read the greeting in the manner you have chosen and give presents to those who you like most of all.
Ведущий 2: Well, we have to continue answering the questions of the quiz. Please, every team, get ready to compete. You will have to answer the next 11 questions.
Ведущий 1: OK, we would like to interview you about the holidays we are going to enjoy very soon. The aim of the contest is to choose the best speaker ever. They are going to answer the only question: Why do you like Christmas time? They have to speak continuously for 1 minute.
Ведущий 1: While the jury are counting your points, we will sing Christmas songs all together. The best singers have a chance to get an extra point for their performing.
Ведущий 2: Well, our contest is coming to the end. It's time to announce the winner.
