Now children, if you hear a family word clap your hands.

Children clap their hands only if they hear a family word.

Today we will learn some new words too. Repeat after me:
A wife, a husband, a cousin, a niece, a nephew

 

Working with flashcards.

Now I will mix the cards up and show them to you very quickly. Raise your hand if you know the answer. Children raise their hands if they managed to understand what picture was shown to them. Then they say the corresponding word. The teacher shows a card just for a second and hides it again in the pack.
Now have a look at the blackboard. We have a row of words. Let’s say them again.
A wife, a husband, a cousin, a niece, a nephew
Now close your eyes. Open your eyes. Tell me what’s missing?
Children raise their hands if they know what word in a row is missing and name it. The teacher fixes the flashcards to the blackboard and takes away one each time pupils close their eyes.

Introducing new vocabulary /

Now friends, let’s feed our classroom monster John. Today he is very hungry and wants to eat some new words.
If you read and translate the word correctly, put it into his mouth. If you make up a correct sentence with the word, put it into his stomach.

Children read and translate new words and make up simple sentences.
I have got a cousin.

I see a niece.
They have got two nephews.
And so on.

Children read after the teacher. Sentence by sentence. Then pupils in turn read and translate the text sentence by sentence.

If a word is read incorrectly, the pupil who has made a mistake, repeats the word 3 times and then the whole class repeats the word 3 times.
