Цель урока: обобщить и продемонстрировать свои знания о Соединенном королевстве Великобритании и Северной Ирландии.

Задачи урока:

Обучающие:

  • обобщить лингвистический и страноведческий материал по предъявленной теме; способствовать развитию речи.

Развивающие:

  • совершенствовать умения и навыки практического владения языком по данной теме; формировать и развивать умение трансформировать знания в новой ситуации.

Воспитывающие:

  • работать над культурой речевых высказываний;
  • формировать и развивать умения само и взаимооценки.

План урока

I. Оргмомент:

1) Приветствие.

2) Вступительная речь учителя.

3) Представление жюри и жеребьевка команд.

II. Учебная деятельность:

1) Приветствие команд.

2) Состязание команд.

III. Итоги урока (игры):

1) Подведение итогов игры и награждение команд.

2) Анализ ответов и оценивание учащихся.

3) Рефлексия.

Ход урока

I. 1. Приветствие учителя и учащихся.

2. Вступительная речь учителя.

(Звучит музыка). Good afternoon everybody! We are happy to see you at our competition. It is devoted to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I think you've read many texts and done exercises and got useful information about the countries of the United Kingdom. This competition shows your achievements and your knowledge of the matter. I wish you success and good luck! I hope every team will win the competition.

3. First I'd like to introduce you the members of our jury. They are pupils of the 10th form. As you see we have some guests today. I hope they are your fans.

Now I ask the captains to come over and choose the cards who will begin the competition.

II.1. The Introduction. Now each team should introduce themselves.

The First Team: Hi! We are "Wise Owls" and I'm the captain. My name is Nadya. We are six in the team. We like to read, watch scientific programmes, so we are clever and wise. Let's listen to our song, please.

Do you live in London? Do you like it here?
Do you eat fish and chips? Do you watch TV?
Do you drive on the right side? Do you have a car?
Do you go to Oxford? Is it far?
Do you learn computers? Do you dance and sing?
Do you know Prince Charles? Do you know the Queen?
Do you like the Beatles? Do you like handball?
Please, tell us, tell us all!

Our slogan is (all pupils): Hold wisdom tight    О мудрости не позабудь,
And you will be all right                                 Выбирая в жизни путь!

The Second Team: My name is Mariam. I'm the captain of the team "Super Cats". Let me introduce my cats. (She is singing a song "Super Cats"):

My cats can sing, my cats can walk,
My cats can watch TV.
My cats can do so many things
And they can play with me!
My cats can play computer games
And can't be silly ones
(They sing together):

But all in all, but all in all
We all are super cats!

As you see our slogan says: (All together) "Live and Learn" (Век живи, век учись).

2. The First Game "Do You Know the United Kingdom?"

I'll give you some minutes for this kind of work. Your task is to combine countries of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, find their symbols and give short information about them.

The Second Game "Flags and Capitals"

The next competition is called "Flags and Capitals". I want one pupil from each team to come to the blackboard. You see many different flags and cities on the board. "The Wise Owls" (The name of the 1st team) should find out the flags of the United Kingdom. "The Super Cats" (The name of the 2nd team) - the capitals of the countries of the United Kingdom.

The Third Game "Countries, Languages and Citizens".

It's time to see whose captain is the best. Captains, I'd like you to come to me. Open your envelopes and take your cards. Here you can see the flags of the countries. Show any flag you choose, name its country, capital and citizens of this country. For example: England, English, an Englishman.

The Fourth Game "Face to Face".

It's a game between the teams. Each team can ask 5 questions and the opposite team will answer them.

The Fifth Game "Homework".

The next step is your homework. Let's see what you have done. (Одна команда подготовила туристический буклет "А bus tour around Great Britain". Вторая команда показала компьютерную презентацию "Are you going to fly to London?").

The Sixth Game "The ABC - Game".

Dear friends! Now you will get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put the letters in the right order, so as to get the name of a country, the name of a capital and a symbol of any country. For example: LEWSAORESNODLNO - Wales, Rose, London.

The Seventh Game "A Word - Game".

Each team gets a card with a long word. You have to make as much new words as possible. I'll give you 3 minutes to do the work.

III. 1. Our competition is over. Dear jury! Could you tell the final scores, please? (Жюри объявляет результаты и награждает победителей): "The Super Cats" has won the competition and we congratulate the members of the team with their victory.

Dear friends! It's a pity but our competition has just finished. Thank you for coming and taking an active part in the games. You are really bright and industrious.

2. Let's discuss your marks. (Проходит обсуждение ответов и выставление оценок. Учащимся было предложено оценить ответы участников своей команды и команды соперников. Затем каждый учащийся поставил себе оценку. Итоговая оценка выставлена в журнал).

3. Отмечены положительные стороны ответов, проанализированы ошибки и намечены пути их устранения.
