Цель урока: обучение общению, развитие коммуникативных умений и навыков учащихся.

Задачи урока:

    • создать условия для применения знаний в знакомой и новых учебных ситуациях.

    • развивать умения во всех видах речевой деятельности, развивать умения работать индивидуально, в паре, в группе, способствовать развитию интереса к предмету, развитие рефлексивных способностей учащихся, развивать способности к слуховой и зрительной дифференциации, непроизвольному запоминанию, конструированию, подстановке, синтезу;
    • развивать ключевые компетентности: познавательную, информационную, коммуникативную;
  • воспитательные
    • способствовать развитию способности и потребности к сотрудничеству и взаимопомощи при работе в паре, группе;
    • воспитывать любовь к животным, экологическую культуру в целом.

Ход урока

1. Warm up

Hello boys and girls! Stand in a circle, please. How are you! Let's compliment each other passing the ball.

Look at the picture. Do you remember this girl? What's her name? What country is she from? How old is she? What does she look like? What's she like?

2. Introducing the topic

Our friend Mary likes writing poetry. Read one of her poems and tell me what her poem is about. You may take your seats.
Oh! What's happened? Some words from the poem have disappeared! Let's fill in the gaps with the correct word from the box. One word is extra.

What is the poem about?

What are we going to talk about today? Yes, we're gong to talk about our pets.

And what is the cat's name? What do you think? You'll do different tasks and get one letter for each task. And at the end of the lesson we'll learn the cat's name.

3. Vocabulary practice

Mary and her parents live on the farm. There are many animals on the farm. What animals can we see there?

Open you books on page 70. Look at the pictures and repeat after me.

Great job! You can get your 1st letter. What letter is it? (letter r)

Different animals make different sounds. Listen to the sounds some animals make and try to guess what animal it is. Stand in two columns and if you know the animal, take a step forward and name it. (method "step by step")

There are pets and animals on the farm. Put the animals under the headings: pets or farm animals. (the children go to the board and work with the pictures)

Now you can get the 3rd letter. What letter is it? (letter a)

4. Listening

Mary has got many friends. They have got pets at home. What pets have they got?

Open you work books on page 68 exercise 4. Listen and match.

You can get the 4th letter. What letter is it? (letter B)

5. Reading

Open your books on page 70. Mary goes to school. Her classmates wrote some emails. Read the title. What did they write about? Listen and check.

Your task is to read the text and fill in the table. The 1st group will read text A, the 2nd group text B, the 3rd group text C.

6. Speaking. Communicative Activities

Mary, her friends and classmates like animals. And what about you? Do you like animals? What is your favourite animal? Why?

Mary wants to know what pets you have got. I give you these sheets of paper. Talk with your classmates about your pets. Stand up, please. (method "merry-go-round")

- Yes, I have got a cat.

- What is your pet's name?

- My pet's name is Tom.

- How old is your pet?

- My pet is 3 years old.

- What does your pet look like?

- My cat is big and fat. He has got big eyes, white ears and a furry tail.

- What is your cat like?

- It is clever, funny and kind. He likes playing with me.

Now stand in a circle and let's speak about your classmates' pets. (the teacher throws the ball and asks questions).

You can get the last letter. What letter is it? (letter c)

What is the cat's name? The letters are mixed up, put the letters in the correct order and you will see the name. (Barsic)
