Procedure: Step 1. Revision of prepositions (slide2) A teacher points at the slide. Students repeat the corresponding words chorally or individually.
Step 2. Speaking Practice. (Controlled practice)
The students work in pairs or in a group.
They are to make sentences using the Key words and Imperative Mood. They use the cut-out arrows to create a route and give instructions how to reach the place.
The route can be changed, and the task is to be continued. Step 3. Writing Practice. (Semi-controlled practice) (slide 7) The students get the map and some conversations printed. They should fill in the gaps with the suitable words. (To make the task easier they can also use the arrows from the previous one to make a route before filling in the gaps.)
The students are supposed to work in pairs while doing the task. Then they do peer correction and find mistakes if there are any. They can also create their own conversation for their partner according to the map given. Step 4. Writing Practice. Free practice. (slides 8-10) The students are supposed to use pictures to create the Treasure map. (All the items are printed and cut out beforehand) They also use the words from the box to make their own sentences and write the instructions for their classmates in the volume. (The arrows from the previous tasks can also be used here.)
The game can be played in some variations.

Variation(s) |
Some variations are possible at almost every step of the activities. Students may/may not need the arrows to make the tasks easier. When passing Step 3, weak students can only fill in the gaps while stronger ones should make their own conversations. When passing Step 4, students can discuss and do the task together or do it in small groups (or pair) as it was described above. They can be given several maps and volumes to fill in. After making their treasure maps and filling the volumes they can exchange them with the other part of the group for them to find the right way to the treasure box. |

Reflections |
Shy or weak students are likely to stay behind while stronger students are doing the activities, so the teacher is supposed to monitor the group work providing any necessary help.
1. Do we need to write the sentences? (Yes/No)
