Ход постановки
(Играет валлийская музыка. Экскурсовод и мальчик-турист выходят на сцену, экскурсовод показывает достопримечательности и подводит туриста к мечу короля Артура, который находится в камне)
Экскурсовод: Now we are in Wales. Pay attention to this stone, please. It's a famous Welsh landmark-King Arthur's sword. According to the legend...
Турист: Oh, I know! I've read about it.
(Экскурсовод уходит, а мальчик пытается вытащить меч из камня. Звучат раскаты грома, волшебная музыка, и появляется Мерлин)
Мерлин: Don't touch the exhibit!
Турист (падая от неожиданности): Who are you?
Mерлин: I'm Merlin...
Турист: The great magician? Oh, my God!
Мерлин: As I see, you are fond of history. Would you like to go with me? And I'll tell you a lot of interesting about my homeland-Wales. Did you know that Wales is the land of castles? It has more castles per square mile than any other European country! Wales is also the land of sheep. The population of sheep in Wales is four times greater than the Welsh population of humans.
(слайд презентации с картой Великобритании и фотографиями столицы Уэльса)
(Mерлин рассказывает о географическом положении страны и столице)
Турист: And I know that the capital city of Wales is Cardiff. Is it so?
Мерлин: You're absolutely right! Well, let's go and I'll show you one more interesting place...
(Уходят. На слайде - валлийская деревня с самым длинным в Великобритании названием. Выходят девушка и юноша в валлийских костюмах)
Девушка: Welcome to our village which has one of the longest place names in the world. It consists of 58 letters and means: "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool of Llantysilio of the red cave".
Турист: It's impossible to remember!
Юношa: And do you know that the oldest tree which grows here in Wales is about 5000 years old? But it's still thriving! (на слайде - самое древнее дерево)
Турист: That's unbelievable!
(выходят несколько молодых людей в национальных костюмах, звучит танцевальная музыка Уэльса. Слайды про фестиваль Eisteddfod)
Турист: Where are you going?
Девушки: Don't you know? The famous Welsh festival is taking place nearby! Fancy coming along? (рассказывают о фестивале Eisteddfod, показывая на слайды)
(юноши и девушки исполняют народный валлийский танец)
Турист: What interesting costumes you're wearing!
(Выходят юноша и девушка, демонстрируют народные костюмы, рассказывают)
Девушка: For the ladies the typical Welsh costume consists of a hat, made of black felt, with a high crown and a white brim, which is worn over a lace cap. A red flannel shawl is worn over a crisp white blouse, a full skirt made of wool and a white apron are also traditional.
(Юноша рассказывает о мужском костюме)
Мерлин: Great news! This year at our festival William Henry Davis has been chosen the best poet! Let's listen to his poem.
(исполняется стих валлийского поэта Дэвиса "What is this life" под лирическую музыку. На слайдах - интересные факты о Уэльсе)
(Неожиданно появляется Король Артур в сопровождении рыцаря. Выдергивает меч из камня)
Мерлин: His Majesty King Arthur! Wales is considered to be the land of King Arthur.
Король: I'm very proud of my country. (обращаясь к туристу) Do you know anything about symbols of Wales?
(Король Артур рассказывает о символах Уэльса: leek, daffodil, Red dragon of Wales, St.David. Рассказ сопровождается слайдами)
Турист: What a special day today! The day full of miracles!
Рыцарь: And on this day I'll make a proposal. (обращаясь к одной из девушек, преподносит ей традиционную ложку(love spoon)) Will you marry me, sweetheart?
Девушка: It's such a romantic tradition! (рассказывает об этой традиции. На слайде- образцы деревянных ложек love spoon) The Welsh love spoon is an iconic symbol across the world, originally carved by men to their respective lover's family as a sign he was capable and skilled with his hands.
(девушки исполняют лирическую народную валлийскую песню Dacw nghariad)
Мерлин: Welsh folk songs are so beautiful!
Турист: What a wonderful land full of legends and mysteries...
(На слайдах - достопримечательности Уэльса и знаменитые люди)
(Мерлин и Король Артур выходят вперед, все участники встают полукругом, торжественная музыка)
Мерлин и Король Артур читают стих: "The land of my Fathers" Wendy Watson.
