Интеллектуальная игра "What Do You Know About the UK?"

Цели:

• Развивающие: расширять общий кругозор учащихся; способствовать повышению интереса к изучению языка
• Образовательные: актуализировать и совершенствовать навыки и умения учащихся по теме “The United Kingdom”
• Воспитательные: развивать умение работать в команде и принимать совместное решение; способствовать воспитанию уважения к культуре страны изучаемого языка

Оборудование:

• мультимедийный проектор,
• компьютер,
• презентация PowerPoint.

Игра проводится для учащихся старшей ступени. Для проведения игры и подсчета баллов необходимо выбрать счетную комиссию (2 человека).

Содержание и правила игры (по типу “Своей игры”).

1. Играют либо 3 игрока, либо 3 команды.
2. Первый ход разыгрывается (можно по жребию)
3. Игрок выбирает тему и стоимость вопроса, затем отвечает. (Используется презентация – Приложение 1)
4. Если игрок дал правильный ответ, на его счет поступает выигранное количество баллов, если отвечает неверно, соответствующее количество баллов вычитается.
5. Если выпал “кот в мешке”, вопрос нужно отдать другому игроку, назвав его.
6. Если выпал “аукцион”, каждый игрок может сделать ставку, но больше номинала, а не меньше. Кто поставит больше, тот и отвечает на вопрос.
7. Перед финалом подсчитывается сумма баллов каждого игрока или команды. Тот, кто окажется в “минусе”, не участвует в финале.
8. В финале игроки делают ставки от 1 до … (в зависимости от набранных баллов) до того, как ведущий зачитает финальное задание.
9. На ответ в финале дается 1 минута. Через 1 мин. каждый игрок предоставляет ведущему письменный вариант ответа. Ведущий оглашает все ответы.
10. Выигравшим называется тот, у кого сумма всех баллов (и за игру, и за финал) больше всех.
11. Если не использовать электронный вариант игры (презентация), то на доске надо начертить игровое поле, в котором последовательно стираются те клетки, которые выбирали игроки.

100 – What river does London stand on? (The Thames.)
200 – How do Londoners call their underground? (The Tube.)
300 – “Кот в мешке”
– What museum in London contains the most famous collection of wax figures? (Madam Tussaud’s Museum.)
400 – What is the oldest building in London? (The Tower of London – in 1078.)
500 – When did the Great Fire take place in London? (1666)

The Royal Family .

100 – What is the official residence of the British Queen in London? (Buckingham Palace.)
200 – When did the British Queen Elizabeth II come to the throne? (6 February 1952.)
300 – At what time does changing the Guard take place at Buckingham Palace? (At 11.30 a.m.)
400 – How many children has the British Queen got?  (Four – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward.)
500 – Where was Elizabeth II crowned in June 1953? (In Westminster Abbey.)

100 – What’s the most popular dish on Christmas? (Roast turkey and pudding.)
200 – What traditional holiday is it when people dye eggs and present their relatives and friends with them? (Easter.)
300 – What vegetable is used when people make ‘Jack-o-Lanterns’ on Halloween? (Pumpkin.)
400 – What must the “First Footer” carry into the house on New Year’s morning? (Apiece of coal, some bread and water.)
500 – How do the British call buns which they eat on Good Friday? (Hot cross buns.)

English Literature .

100 – What English poet and playwright was born in Stratford-upon-Avon? (William Shakespeare.)
200 – Who is the main character of the book written by Lewis Carroll? (Alice.)
300 – “Аукцион” – What part of Great Britain did Robert Burns come from? (Scotland.)
400 – Who of the literary characters lived in Baker Street, 221b? (Sherlock Holmes.)
500 – What English poet is considered to be the national hero of Greece? (George Gordon Byron.)

Famous People .

100 – They were four musicians from Liverpool, who formed a group and became very famous not only in the UK but all over the world. (The Beatles.)
200 – He was a famous English navigator who sailed around the Earth three times. He was killed in Hawaii. Who was he? (James Cook.)
300 – This lady was Prime minister of the UK for 10 years. Who was she? (Margaret Thatcher.)
400 – He was a great politician but he is also known as the Nobel Prize winner for literature.
500 – He was one of the greatest English scientists who derived the law of universal gravitation and performed experiments investigating the nature of light and colour.

Финал .

Игроки выбирают тему для игры в финале (одну из предложенных).

School – At what age do British schoolchildren start secondary school? (11.)
Travelling – What is the fastest way of crossing the English Channel (By Channel Tunnel.)
British Parliament – What chambers does the British Parliament consist of? (The House of Lords and the House of Commons.)
Traditional Costume – What is the Scottish national costume for men? (Kilt.)
Sport – Where do the most famous tournaments take place in Great Britain? (Wimbledon.)

Команды делают ставки, исходя из заработанных баллов.

Ведущий зачитывает вопрос финала, через 1 минуту команды дают письменные ответы на вопрос.

В конце игры подводятся итоги, победители награждаются.
