Задание «А» “Christmas”
Read the text:
Christmas in Australia
Christmas in Australia actually occurs in early summer because this country is in the
Southern Hemisphere, where the seasons are opposite to us. On December 25th it is often
hot.
Christmas decorations are proudly put up in the cities and towns.
On Christmas Eve, thousands of people gather for “Carols by Candlelight”. The evening
is lit by many candles. Australians surround themselves with Christmas Bush-a native plant
with little red flowers. At many beaches Santa Claus arrives on a surfboard, or even on a
surf lifesaving boat.
Most families in Australia replace cooking the traditional turkey roast dinner with
seafood and a barbie (dish) being the order of the day. Australians prefer Christmas
celebration in the woods or at the beach. If they’re at home, they play cricket, swim in
a pool and other outdoor activities.
