Образовательные:

  • совершенствование слухопроизносительных, лексических и грамматических навыков;
  • активизация лексики в речи;
  • ознакомление с традициями проведения Нового Года в разных странах.

Развивающие:

  • развитие устной монологической речи;
  • развитие навыков поискового, ознакомительного, изучающего чтения;
  • развитие языковой догадки.

Воспитательные:

  • воспитание чувства уважения к традициям других стран,
  • воспитание патриотизма.

 
Оборудование:

  • записи песен;
  • компьютер с проектором;
  • раздаточный материал;
  • открытки с пожеланиями на английском языке.
  • украшения для класса (шары, плакаты, маленькая елка)

Тип урока:урок-закрепление материала

Ход урока

1. Организационный момент

Включается музыка (танцевальная), ученики танцуют. Часы начинают бить 12 раз (запись курантов). Все останавливаются и начинают петь песню “Auld Lang Syne” (включается запись этой песни). Затем все громко кричат “Happy New Year”, поздравляют друг друга с праздником и вручают открытки гостям. Ученики хлопают и занимают свои места.

Учитель: Good morning, dear guests, boys and girls! Happy New Year! I`m glad to see you! How do you like the beginning of our lesson?

Учащиеся высказывают свое мнение:

I think it was great!
I wish every lesson started in such a way!
As for me I liked it very much. Etc.

Teacher: “I`m of the same opinion. You see, it`s customary for American people to greet the beginning of the New Year in such a way. As you`ve understood we`re going to talk about various customs of spending New Year`s Day in different countries”.

2. Основная часть.

1) Развитие устной монологической речи (подготовленное сообщение).

Teacher: Now let`s see, what`s there unusual in this holiday. You have prepared some information. Be very attentive while listening because at the end of the lesson you`re going to do a test. You can make notes during the lesson. Please, you are welcome!

Учащиеся по очереди начинают рассказывать о типичных традициях проведения праздника в некоторых странах (идет компьютерная презентация Приложение 1).
Представляется материал по проведению Нового года в следующих странах: China, Australia, Egypt, Greece, Poland, The USA, Russia.

2) Развитие навыков чтения (работа над текстом).

Teacher: Thank you very much. You did a good job! Your reports were really attractive, interesting and amazing.

And now for more details about ways of spending New Year`s Day in other countries we shall read the text, which is called “New Year”.

But before working on it let`s get acquainted with some unknown words (слова на доске, текст на карточках). Снятие лексических трудностей c использованием различных способов введения лексики (перевод, рисунок, синоним на английском языке)

- Repeat after me:       

  • lentils – чечевица
  • juniper–можжевельник (изображение на компьютере)
  • to fumigate = to spread over the smell of smth.

- Thanks a lot! Now your task is to look through the text and in half a minute give it another title. После просмотровогочтения учащиеся дают такие названия: “Different countries”, “ Different traditions”, etc. Все названия пишутся на доске.

Teacher: Excellent! Your ideas are very bright! And now look at the text once again and answer the question: “What dishes are described in the text?” (поисковоечтение). The answers are: bread rich in butter, eggs and raisins; roast goose, salt pork, lentils.

Teacher: Thank you very much. You`re working quite hard today.

Перед ознакомительнымчтением дается задание: Read the text once again and we`ll speak about some traditions.

  • What do Swiss women cook for holiday?
  • Where are there lentils on the menu? What do they mean?
  • What custom is there in Spain?
  • How do people in Turkey spend the New Year night?
  • Let`s translate the passage about the Greek tradition?
  • Why do people in Italy throw old clothes, broken cups and plates out of the window?
  • What was an old English custom?
  • What does a “first foot” in Scotland bring?

Teacher: That`s a good work. And now look through the text once again and say which tradition you like most of all (изучающеечтение). Ответы даются с применением фраз выражения своего мнения.

Например: As for me, I like Swiss tradition most of all because I`m crazy about tasty things. I wish my mother prepared such dish for me.

3) Физкультминутка

Включается подвижная музыка. Учащиеся встают в круг и передают друг другу большую подарочную коробку. Музыка выключается, у кого на руках осталась коробка, тот разворачивает первый слой упаковки. Затем снова включается музыка и следующий ученик убирает другой слой упаковки и т.д. пока не дойдут до самого подарка. А в качестве подарка можно написать пожелание на Новый год на английском языке.

4) Национально-региональный компонент

Teacher: You`re really working hard today. I suppose, now you are aware of how people spend New Year`s Day in different countries and what can they receive as a present.

- And what about our country? Are there any traditions in Russia? Учащиеся рассказывают о проведении Нового года в России.

- How do you spend this holiday? Have you got any family traditions? (ученики рассказывают о своих семейных традициях встречи Нового года)

5) Контроль знаний

Teacher: Thank you very much. I`m proud of the way you worked today. Now as I have told you`re going to do the test. Take your seats at the computers and fulfill the tasks by choosing the best variant. Учащиеся рассаживаются возле компьютеров и выполняют тест, выполненный с помощью программы «My test».

You certainly did well today. It`s such a pleasure to teach when you work like that. They say “So many countries, so many customs”. I quite agree with this. And we should respect other traditions and customs.
