T: Thank you, Ann. Sit down, please. Let's begin our lesson.
You have been studying English for more than 4 years. Some of you are good at learning English. Do you want to visit London? And you? What about you?
P1: Yes, сertainly.
P2: I’d love to.
P3: Why not?
P4: Sure.
T: I see, everybody would like to go to London. That's why the theme of today's lesson is "We are going on a trip to London". Before planning travelling to London we should learn about the place where we are going to as much as possible. At the lesson you will read about London's sights, listen to the information about London's places of interest, read the travel leaflet and do London history quiz.

2. A wise old owl sat in an oak,
The more he heard the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why aren't we all like that wise old bird?
3. Fat Pat had a fat cat. Pat's fat cat sat at Pat's hat.
III. Речевая зарядка.
a) T: Now I'd like to see what you know about London. Listen to my questions and answer them.
1. What city is the capital of Britain?
2.How many parts are there in London?
3. What river is in the centre of the city of London?
4. How many bridges are over the River Thames?
- What is the name of the oldest bridge in London?
- What are the most famous parks in London?
- What London street is the main shopping centre?
- What attractions is London famous for?
6) Reading.
T: Read the descriptions of some London's sights and guess what place of interest it is.
1. When I want to know something about the place where I'm going to I prefer to ask people who have been there. The friends of my parents visited London some years ago. They gave us cards and told a lot of interesting things. They said that Westminster Abbey was worth seeing. Westminster Abbey stands opposite the Houses of Parliament. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. It is more than nine hundred years old. There are so many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there. Westminster Abbey is famous for the Poet's Corner too. Many great writers are buried there: for example Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling. The Abbey with its two tall towers is really wonderful.
2. Looking through the newspaper I found the article about the Tower of London. The Tower of London was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King's Zoo.
Now it is the museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the halls of the White Tower. Its square walls are white and very tall.
William the Conqueror built it in the eleventh century. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People keep them in the Tower of London and look after them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.
3. As for me I'd rather watch TV than read books. My favorite programme is "Around The World". Once the programme was devoted to London's places of interest. St. Paul's Cathedral is one of them. One of the greatest English churches, St. Paul's Cathedral, is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It took Sir Christopher Wren 35 years. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. In one of its towers there is one of the largest bells in the world.
4. As for me I usually get information from the Internet. Due to the internet the books of all world's libraries are accessible to everyone. The centre of London is Trafalgar Square. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.
IV.
Аудирование.a) T: There are a lot of different ways of getting information. Let's fill in the Word Web.
Where can people get information?
б) T: Listen to the descriptions of some London's sights and say where the information was taken from.
Example: The information about... was taken from...
V. Обучение диалогическому общению.
а). Т: There is one more way of getting information. People can get information about tours abroad at the travel agency. I invited Natalie to our lesson. She is a travel agent. Listen to the information.
Travel agent: Hi, everybody! Our travel agency organizes different tours to English-speaking countries. I'd like to offer you some tours around London. All information you can find in the leaflet.
T: Read the leaflet and say what you can do in London.
T: Thank you, Natalie. You may sit here.
б). T: Now you'll listen to the dialogues "At the travel agency" and say what the visitors asked the travel agent about. Listen to the dialogue. You'll listen to it twice. Put the stripes in the logical order. Listen to the dialogue once again to check up it. T: Who wants to read the dialogue.
T: Say what the visitor asked the travel agent about.
T: How did the visitor ask about the weather?
в) T: Sasha and Cyrill will act out the dialogue. Listen to them and say what Sasha asked the travel agent about.

– Um... I'm going to the UK in July. And I'd like to make the most of my holidays. What would you advise me to visit?
– Oh, there are a lot of special tours. They'll take you to all the important historic places. Um... just a minute. I'll give you some travel brochures. You can choose yourself. There's a lot to see.

weather like in July?

documents do I need? How much money can I take? Things like that.
