Тип урока: комбинированный. Урок проводится в виде командной игры-соревнования.
Цель урока: развить навыки диалогической речи у учащихся в устных высказываниях об английских и русских праздниках на основе новой тематической лексики и информации из текста.
Задачи:
- организовать учащихся, создать необходимый уровень мотивации;
- закрепить ранее изученную лексику.
- ознакомить с новой лексикой по теме «Праздники в России», сократить уровень языковых и речевых трудностей;
- развить языковую догадку и ознакомить учащихся с названиями праздников;
- использовать ситуацию текста в качестве языковой содержательной опоры для развития умений в письменной и устной речи учащихся;
- активизировать лексику, изученную на уроке, развивать навыки устной речи.
Развивающая цель: развивать речь учащихся, познавательный интерес учащихся, умение сравнивать, обобщать, делать выводы, расширять их словарный запас и кругозор, развивать умение работать в команде.
Воспитательная цель: воспитывать стремление к толерантному общению с окружающими, воспитывать у учащихся культуру мышления и общения.
Характеристика группы: Ууровень владения английским языком – начальный (первый год обучения).
Возраст – 11-12 лет.
Формы организации познавательной деятельности: индивидуальная, фронтальная, групповая.
Методы обучения:
1) по источнику знаний: словесные, наглядные;
2) по уровню познавательной активности:
объяснительно-побуждающий, репродуктивный,
объяснительно-иллюстративный;
3) по принципу расчленения знаний: аналитический,
сравнительный, обобщающий, классификационный;
4) по степени взаимодействия: беседа, командная
игра.
Оборудование: карточки с названиями команд, карточки с тематической лексикой, карточки с заданиями, аудиозапись на ПК

Структура урока:
I. a) The beginning of the lesson
Teacher: Good morning, dear boys and girls! I’m so glad to see you today! Sit down, please. (Ss take their places)
Teacher: Today we have an unusual lesson, because you have the chance
to take part in a very interesting and wonderful competition on topic “Holidays in
Russia” where we are going to know new information about our country and its holidays.
Teacher: I’d like to introduce you to our guests. Today there are two teams. The
first team is “Funny Oranges” consists of the girls and the second team is “The dark
lords” consists of the boys. (Приложение 1)
b) Warming-Up
Teacher: There are a lot of English holidays. What holidays do you know? Name them, please. Give more ideas. (Students express their thoughts and ideas)
The game “Associations”:
Teacher: Think of the name of the celebration which you associate with it (Teacher name the celebrations. Ss write down all associations they have).
Teacher: So, let’s check your associations. Take turns in reading. (Ss present their answers)
II. Home task check-up. (Ss present their projects about English holidays)
III. Pre-reading. Work with the vocabulary. Presentation
Each command has their vocabulary guide with topic vocabulary. (Приложение 2)
Teacher: Take the vocabulary guide. Here you can see some words and expressions which can be useful at the lesson today. Don’t forget about correct pronunciation. Repeat the words after me. (Ss repeat the words after the teacher)
IV. While Reading.
Each command has the Cute’s report on the desks and worksheets with the tasks to the text. (Приложение 3)
а) Teacher: Cute has the task to write the letter to
his boss about holidays in Russia. It can help Misha to tell Robin about traditions,
customs and peculiarities of our country. Here you can see Cute’s report.
Teacher: What is the title of the report? Read it, please.
(Ss read the beginning of Cute’s report)
b) The game “Name the holiday” – students match the holidays with their translations and main information. (Приложение 4)
c) Teacher: Read the information about the first holiday in Russia. (Приложение 3)
d) Teacher: Now, please do the quiz. Answer the following questions there. (Ss complete the quiz while reading) (Приложение 5)
e) Teacher: Well, there is the end of Cute’s report. Read the information about 3 holidays in Russia which are very interesting, too. (Ss extract useful information from the texts which is necessary for speaking about holidays in Russia) (Приложение 3)
V. After-reading
Teacher: Now, read the texts again and mark sentences “Yes” or “No”. (Ss mark the sentences “true” or “false” after reading it) (Приложение 3)
Teacher: Match the beginnings of the sentences with the endings. Do the task accurately, don’t hurry up. (Ss match the dates with the names of the holidays) (Приложение 6)
VI. Speaking
(Ss activate topic vocabulary which is connected with Russian holidays) (Приложение 7)
Teacher: Work in pairs. Make up small dialogues and present them using
the following questions:
– What is your favourite holiday?
– What do you do in this day?
– Do you celebrate this holiday with your friends or family?
– What presents do you usually get? (Ss work in pairs)
VII. The end of the lesson.
Teacher: Dear students and guests, thank you for your participation today! All of you were very active!
(Teacher announces the results, assesses the students and explains their hometask)
