I. Организационный момент и сообщение целей урока

– Good afternoon! I’m very glad to see you! Take your places.
Last lesson we spoke about the ways of traveling to the Uk. Today our lesson is devoted to the country itself. You know you were to do the Word Web concerning the things you can do there. I‘ve prepared a presentation also and at the end of the lesson you’ll have a surprise. But just now, we are eager to listen to your opinion.

I promised you that you’ll have a surprise at the end of the lesson. So, I was not idling and prepared the presentation about the United Kingdom. It will come in handy to refresh your knowledge about that beautiful country. 
At first, let’s have a short test. I’ll ask you a question and you are to answer it.
1. Where is the UK situated? (Оn the British Isles)
2. What countries does the UK consist of? (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)
3. What waters is the UK surrounded by? (The Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea)
4. What country is Great Britain linked to by the Channel Tunnel? (France)
5. The UK is governed by a parliamentary system, isn’t it? (Yes, it is)

8. Is the Queen the Head of the Commonwealth of Nations? (Yes, she is)
