Внеклассная работа по английскому языку органически входит в учебно-воспитательный процесс в школе. Тематические вечера на английском языке являются одним из интереснейших и эффективнейших видов массовой внеклассной работы. Более того, именно они - одна из наиболее удачных форм повышения у учащихся интереса к английскому языку, культуре, обычаям и традициям Великобритании, совершенствования навыков устной речи, повторения и закрепления ранее изученной лексики, расширения словарного запаса. Своей занимательностью они вызывают интерес учащихся, а подготовка к вечеру позволяет привлечь к работе весь класс. Проведение таких мероприятий, безусловно, требует большой подготовки со стороны учителя и учащихся, но, и они чрезвычайно полезны как в общеобразовательном, так и в языковом отношении.
Тематические вечера и подготовка к ним развивают художественные способности, чувство коллективизма, взаимовыручку.
В своей работе часто использую проведение тематических вечеров для классов одной параллели. Обычно к вечеру начинаем готовиться за 2–3 месяца до его проведения, думаем над костюмами, аксессуарами, распределяем обязанности между учащимися, отбираем главных “героев” вечера, проводим репетиции.
Я – учитель английского языка 2–11-х классов обычной общеобразовательной школы. Поэтому, если я провожу вечера с учащимися начальной школы, то в качестве главных ведущих вечера я подключаю учащихся среднего звена. Учащиеся старшего звена являются ведущими тематических вечеров в среднем звене. В старшем звене ведущими являются учащиеся этого же звена с лучшими показателями по предмету.
В прошлом учебном году на выпускном вечере в начальной школе, который проходил в виде расписания предметов одного школьного дня детей, мне нужно было представить урок английского языка. У нас в школе в начальном звене английский язык проводится как дополнительные занятия и после уроков, на него отводилось и отводится всего 2 часа. Моя задача была охватить как можно больше детей, показать не только навыки монологической речи детей, но и показать приобретенные навыки и умения диалогической речи, умения исполнять песни на английском языке.
Цель проведённого урока - мероприятия, посвященного английскому алфавиту - подведение итогов изученного материала. Подготовка урока - праздника включалась в учебный процесс. Ребята разучивали песни и стихи, что позволяло в игровой форме повторить и закрепить пройденный материал. Наглядные пособия – картинки с буквами алфавита и рисунками, элементы костюмов для сценок. Музыкальное сопровождение – записи на магнитофоне и фортепиано. Пели песни все дети, которые изучали английский язык, а “буквами” и участниками сценок были 32 ученика. 25 минут, отведённые на урок английского языка, пролетели незаметно. Помощниками в проведении мероприятия были 4 человека из 6 “А” класса, в котором я не только учитель английского языка, но и классный руководитель.
