Ход урока

1. Оргмомент.

T: Who is going to be a teacher today?

P P1, P2, P3 (date, day of the week, the weather) – 3 min

T: Today we continue speaking about Kim’s arrangements for her birthday party. We are going to watch the film about one interesting place in London. Then we are doing some grammar exercise and listening to Kim’s arrangements for her birthday party.

Well, let’s begin our lesson.

2. Основная часть урока.

a) T: As you know, people like to go to the museums. Are there many museums in Moscow?

P1: Yes, there are many museums in Moscow.

T: What are they?

P2: They are: the History Museum, the Pushkin Art Museum, the Tretyakov gallery.

T: How often do you go there?

P: Once a month.

T: Are the any museums in London?

P3: Yes, there are.

T: Do Londoners often go to the museums?

P4: Yes, they do.

T: Yes, I agree with you. Now we are going to watch film about one of the museums in London. Guess! What museum is it?

b) Some questions are on the blackboard.

  1. Where is it?
  2. Is this museum popular?
  3. What can you see in the museum?
  4. How do wax models look like?
  5. Whose models can people see in this museum?

T: So, people are going to Madam Tussaud’s museum now. What grammar time we use here?

P1: We use Present Continuous here to describe an action that is happening now, at the moment when we are speaking.

T: But from the dialog we know Kim is visiting the museum tomorrow. Why is she visiting museum tomorrow? Who is she visiting the museum with?

Here we use Present Continuous for what?

P1: We use Present Continuous to talk about smth that we have already arranged.

T: Now we are doing some tasks in your card (1-st card)

Another task for you is to make up your own sentences.

T: Complete with the Present Continuous.

T: Thank you. Now we are going to listen to Kim’s arrangements for her birthday on Saturday. Listen to it attentively and write down the time.

Tomorrow’s my birthday. I’m so excited! I’m getting up at 7 o’clock because my dad is taking me and my friends to Madame Tussaud’s museum. My friends are coming to my house at 8 o’clock. We’re leaving at a quarter past eight because it takes half an hour to drive there. We want to be there early because there’s always a queue. We’re going to look at more models after we eat. My parents are coming to meet us outside at 3 o’clock and then we’re going to the cinema. The film starts at 6 o’clock so we’ll have time to have a pizza first. What a great birthday.

Listen and write the times.

  1. 7:00 – Get up
  2. 8:00 – Meet Jenny, Mark and Rob at my house
  3. 8:15 – Leave the house and go to Madame Tussaud’s
  4. 8:45 – Arrive at Madam Tussaud’s (look at wax models)
  5. 12:30 – Eat lunch in restaurant
  6. 15:00 – Meet parents outside Madame Tussaud’s
  7. 18:00 – Film starts at cinema

Now talk to a classmate about Kim’s plans.

Let’s make a plan and imagine you are planning to meet your pen friend.

Monday – meet Tom at the airport
Tuesday – visit a museum
Wednesday – go ice-skating
Thursday – relax at home
Friday – have a good party

Home task: write your plans for meeting your pen friend.
