Цели: Развитие умений и навыков самостоятельно отбирать языковой материал для решения поставленных коммуникативных задач и ситуативных проблем. Развивать способности использовать иностранный язык как инструмент общения в диалоге культур современного мира, т.е развитие речевой и социокультурной компетенций.
Задачи
- Воспитательная: воспитание интереса к изучению иностранного языка; воспитание уважения к культуре страны изучаемого языка, ее традициям и обычаям (традиционные виды транспорта, рождественские поздравления); воспитание понимания важности изучения иностранного языка, применение полученных знаний на практике (умение представиться, поведение в чрезвычайных ситуациях); воспитание потребности к самостоятельному отбору необходимой информации для ситуативного применения и самообразования (поиск информации о Титанике).
- Развивающая: обучение извлечению необходимой информации из прочитанного или услышанного; развитие способности самостоятельно применять полученные знания для решения коммуникативных проблем, работы в группах; развитие инициативы установления и поддержания контакта на иностранном языке; развитие языковой догадки; развитие аудитивного внимания; обучение поиску и установлению межпредметных связей с целью практического применения полученных знаний в будущем, так как мир – единое целое и живя в нем мы не делим полученные знания на школьные предметы; расширение кругозора учащихся – использование здоровьесберегающих технологий (смена видов деятельности, применение тематических рифмовок, песен , направленных на стимуляцию двигательной активности учащихся с целью активизации различных психо-физиологических параметров и создания эмоционального комфорта )
- Познавательная: развитие общих и специальных учебных умений, ознакомление с рациональными способами самостоятельного изучения языка и культуры.

Today we are going to talk about different means of transport. Nowadays a lot of people travel abroad. When we are abroad we should speak English. You should know how to tell about yourself and how to ask questions, because if you can’t speak English you can lose.

The first group is ready.
- In some countries of the world there are some unusual means of transport.
- The cycle –rickshaw is a popular means of transport.
- People travel by cycle-rickshaw in small towns and villages in India and other parts of Asia.
- People sit in the back and a man on a bicycle pulls them along.
- In some towns in India children go to school by cycle-rickshaw.
- It is slow and safe. .
- Cycle-rickshaws are comfortable and cheap.
The second group.
- In some countries of the world there are some unusual means of transport
- In Thailand, people often travel by taxi.
- But the taxis are very unusual.
- They are elephant taxis
- People travel around on the back of an elephant.
- The elephants go to a training camp where they learn how to carry passengers safely.
- Travelling by an elephant taxi is not very comfortable, because it’s very bumpy!

What is the most traditional and popular means of transport in London?
When somebody says “London” what do you think of? Old buildings? The River Thames? Trafalgar Square? Red telephone boxes?
London is really a great city because of its people. There are more than
7 000 000 Londoners today. They use different ways of traveling from place to place. A lot of people like traveling by bike, because it’s cheap. Some travel by cars or black taxies. Sometimes they travel by cycle-rickshaw. But the most famous and traditional way of travelling is by red buses. The red- buses’ drivers have to remember 25.000 streets in London. Drivers study maps and drive about two years.
