"Treasure island" - non-traditional lesson for the 2nd grade

Purposes:

  1. to repeat words on the topics ”Colours”, ‘‘Numbers”, “Animals”, “Verbs of movement”,
  2. to develop oral speech skills,
  3. to raise the motivation for the subject.

Equipment:

  1. laptop,
  2. multimedia equipment,
  3. magnetic board,
  4. domino cards with the pictures of animals,
  5. A picture of a ship, pictures of different animals,
  6. two “magic” traffic lights,
  7. a crossword
  8. a picture of a “magic train”

Procedure:

– Good morning, dear boys and girls! Today we’ll play the game “Treasure island”. There are two teams. This team is “Pussy-cats” and this team is “Black horses”.

– I have got a letter from my friend from Africa. Let’s read and translate it. (A plan of the island and the map)

(Presentation: – Hello, my friend! My name is Sam. I live in Africa. I have a map. This is the map of a treasure island. A box with the treasure is there. I want to find it. Can you help me? )

– Oh, this is a treasure island. There is a box with some treasure there. Do you want to take this box with the treasure? Now read this text. These are some instructions. Help me, please, translate them.

– Do you know the song “Colors”? Let’s sing it.

– There is a big river in front of us. And so many animals want to go across the river. We have a ship. Help me count the passengers. We can take only 10 animals. (They do)

– The next task is to correct the sentences. Look at the screen and say what is right. (Presentation:
