Цель: развитие иноязычной социокультурной компетенции.

1. Образовательные: познакомиться с новой лексикой по теме через тексты; повторить употребление Present Simple.
2. Развивающие: развивать социокультурную компетенцию.
3. Воспитательные: воспитывать умение работать в парах, группах.

I. Вступительное слово учителя:

Liverpool is situated in Lancashire, at the mouth of the river Mersey, where it empties into the Irish Sea.

The settlement of Liverpool was first mentioned in 1191, and in 1207 it got the status of a town. Since 13^th century it has been a port. In the second half of the 17^th century it began playing an important part in the trade with the English colonies in America.

At present it is the second largest (after London) sea-port in Britain.
