Цели урока:
- Воспитательная – воспитывать у учащихся вежливое отношение друг к другу.
- Образовательная – познакомить с историей празднования Дня Благодарения в Америке.
- Развивающая – способствовать развитию логического мышления и воображения, умения общаться при тесном взаимодействии в группе, аргументировать свою точку зрения.
- Практическая – практиковать в чтении текста страноведческого характера.
Оборудование урока:
- классная доска,
- карточки со словами и дефинициями,
- разрезной текст, бланк анкеты,
- картинки-символы,
- карточки с вопросами,
- звездочки и треугольники для деления на команды.
ХОД УРОКА
1. Начало урока.
Приветствие: T: Hello boys and girls, it’s nice to see you, sit down, please.
2. Введение в ситуацию.
T: Do you like to travel?
P1: Yes, I like to travel very much.
T: How can people travel?
P2: They can travel by ship, by plane, by car and on foot.
T: Would you like to go to America?
P3: Yes, I would.
T: What kind of transport would you choose?
P4: I’d choose a plane.
T: OK. How did Christopher Columbus reach America?
P5: He reached America by ship.
T: Let’s go to America like Christopher Columbus.
Далее учитель производит деление учащихся на две команды, предлагая взять треугольник или звезду.
T: Now we have two teams: “The Stars” and “The Triangles”.
Each team will draw the ship. Every line is a point.The more lines, the better the ship. Is it clear? Let’s start!

Task №2: “Match the word and the definition” (см. приложение 1)
The key: to discover – to open something new
a voyage – a trip by sea
a settlement – a territory with a group people on it
“Mayflower”- a name of a ship on which Christopher Columbus sailed to America.
“The New World”- the name of a land that was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492.
a symbol – an object that means an idea, action or image.
Команды по очереди дают объяснение, в случае ошибки ход переходит к сопернику. Мах – 6баллов.
Task №3: “Captains’ competition – What? Where? When? ”
Капитаны вытягивают билет с вопросом и отвечают по очереди, приветствуется помощь команды. Мах – 6баллов
- Who gave Christopher Columbus money to go to America?
- How many miles did he sail to reach the land?
- Christopher Columbus was born in Spain, wasn’t he?
- Why did Englishmen sail to America in the seventeenth century?
- How did they call their first colony?
- Christopher Columbus thought that Cuba was an island, didn’t he?
Task №4: “American Holidays”
T: I see that you know much information about America. But do you like holidays?
P1: Yes, I do. I like holidays very much.
T: 1.What is your favourite holiday?
2. What holidays do people celebrate in America?
3. What English holidays do you know?

Учитель обращает внимание обучающихся на картинки (Приложение 3)
The key: a3, b2, c3, d4, e5. Учитель проверяет ответы на вопросы: Is Thanksgiving Day an English or an American holiday? What is its symbol?
Учитель оценивает этот этап, мах - 7 б.
Послетекстовый этап.

Учитель оценивает и вопрос и ответ. Мах – 6б.
4. Анкетирование.

Учитель подводит итоги анкетирования (считаются только ответы в колонке “always”)
T: If your score is five: You are a well-bred person. You always thank people.
You are the example of saying “thank you”.
If you score is three or four: You are a kind person, but you have a bad memory, you don’t remember how to say “thank you”.
If your score is two: It is a catastrophe, learn the new words – “THANK YOU”.
5. Подведение итогов игры.
Во время работы учащихся с анкетами, учитель подсчитывает баллы, набранные командами за игру. Например: команда “The Stars” набрала 18 баллов, а “The Triangles” – 23; чей корабль достигнет берегов Америки более успешно. И наглядно, и интересно.
