Цель урока: обобщение изученного материала по теме «Лица Лондона»; совершенствование навыков устной речи; активизация страноведческого материала.

Оборудование: картинки с изображением достопримечательностей Лондона; карточки с вопросами; призы для победителей.

Ход мероприятия:

Teacher: Hello, my dear boys and girls! We are glad to see you at our lesson. All children like to play. Well play the game «Face of London» today. There are two teams in our classroom and we have three member of our jury today. The first one is called ..., and its captain is ...The second team is called ..., and its captain is ....The members of our jury are ...

Учитель приветствует учащихся и сообщает им цель урока. В игре принимают участие класс из 18 человек. Для проверки оценки знания выбирается жюри из трёх человек. Выполняя различные задания, участники игры получают «фунты». Победителем становится та команда, которая набрала больше «фунтов» – очков.

I want you to listen to my stories. I will describe different places of interest of London. You can see on the blackboard name of places.

Учитель зачитывает небольшие рассказы – описывает различные места в Лондоне. На доске заранее написаны названия достопримечательностей, команда, которая первая догадалась о месте, описываемой в рассказе, поднимают руки и отвечают.

Примерные рассказы:

1. This place is a fine Gothic building, which stands opposite the Houses of Parliament. The oldest part of the building dates from the eighth century. There are many monuments and statues there, many English kings and queens are buried there.

2. This place is a work of the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren. Its said to be one of the finest pieces of architecture in Europe, Its full of monuments. Its a fine building with many columns and tower.

3. One of the most ancient buildings of London. It was founded in the 11th century by William the Conqueror. But each monarch left some kind of personal mark on it. It was a fortress, a place a prison and the Kinds Zoo. Now its a museum.

4. Besides being the official London residence of The Queen, is also the busy administrative headquarters of the monarchy and has probably the most famous and easily recognizable facade of any building in the world.

The Palace is a working building and the centerpiece of Britains constitutional monarchy. It houses the offices of those who support the day-to-day activities and duties of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh and their immediate family. The Palace is also the venue for great Royal ceremonies, State Visits and Investitures, all of which are organized by the Royal Household.

Although is furnished and decorated with priceless works of art that form part of the Royal collection, one of the major art collections in the world today, it is not an

art gallery and nor is it a museum. Its State Rooms form the nucleus of the working Palace and are used regularly by The Queen and members of the Royal family for official and State entertaining. Buckingham Palace is one of the worlds most familiar buildings and more than 50,000 people visit the Palace each year as guests to banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and the Royal Garden Parties.

5. The great central keep was built by William the Conqueror and finished by his sons and successors, William Rufus and Henry I. It is 90 feet high and is of massive construction, the walls varying from 15 feet thickness at the base to almost 11 feet in the upper parts. Above the battlements rise four turrets; three of them are square, but that on the Northeast is circular. This turret once contained the first royal observatory.

The original single entrance was on the south side and it was reached by an external staircase. There were no doors at ground level. The walls on the upper floors were penetrated by narrow slits positioned in wide splays. On the southern side, four pairs of original double slits remain. In late 17th and early 18th centuries all others were replaced by Sir Christopher Wren with the windows seen today.

На доске заранее приготовленные записи следующих достопримечательностей: Pauls Cathedral и Buckingham Palace. За 3 минуты ученики составляют слова из данных названий достопримечательностей. Каждое слово приносит команде «1 фунт».

Итог: По завершению всех работ, учитель подводит итоги и награждает победителей.
