I. Подготовка учащихся к речевой деятельности на английском языке

1. Организационный момент. (Звучит песенка пиратов на русском языке к театральной постановке горномарийского театра “Остров Сокровищ”, гл. режиссер Б. Веркау).

Morning, guys, I’m glad to see you. We are discussing an adventure novel “Treasure Island” by a famous English writer R.L. Stevenson.

2. Речевая зарядка

Teacher ->Pupil1, 2: Do you like this novel? Who are main characters of the novel? It is a thrilling plot, is not it?

II. Основная часть. Развитие речевых навыков и умений на английском языке

1. Аудирование

Teacher: As you remember the novel begins with one sailor’s appearance. His nickname was “Captain”.

а) Фонетическая отработка незнакомой лексики к тексту:

Teacher ->Class: Will you pay attention to the words and word combinations on the blackboard. Repeat them, please! ( Работа с интерактивной доской)

A cutlass – сабля, кортик;

A big scar on his check – большой шрам на щеке;

Whistled to himself – насвистывал;

Rum and bacon and eggs - is all I want – ром и яичница с ветчиной – вот все, что мне нужно.

б) Озвучивание текста:

Teacher: Let me describe him twice. Your task is to agree or disagree with my statements. Look at the captain: his portrait will help you much.

TEXT

One day an old seaman came up to the door of Jim Hawking’s father inn. He was a tall, strong man in a blue old seaman’s coat. He had a cutlass on his side. His face was brown and there was a big scar on his cheek. He looked at the inn for some time and whistled to himself, and then he suddenly began to sing that old song which all pirates sing:

“Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest.

Yo – ho – ho, and a bottle of rum!”

He brought a box with him like those in which sailors keep their clothes. Then he asked a glass of rum, drank it slowly and looked around at the inn and at the sea. “Well, then”, the seaman said. “This is a good place for me. I’ll stay here for some time. Rum and bacon and eggs - is all I want. You want to know my name? You may call me captain. Yes, call me captain.”

Teacher ->Pupil1: Do you think the man was a sailor or a pirate? Why?

Pupil1: He sang that old song which all pirates sang. This fact proves him to be a pirate.

2. Активизация лексического материала в речи учащихся

Teacher: What was there in his box? Well, there was not only some clothes in captain’s box. There was also a map of an island in the West Indies there. Some pirates hid treasure on that island. Have a look at this map. Do you want to know where gold pieces and bars of gold and silver were hidden? Well, it is possible to find treasure in this or that place or in some other one.

а) Работа с картой Острова Сокровищ и с карточками, на которых написаны английские слова. Карточки с английскими словами находятся на партах у школьников. Соответственно их эквивалентам, написанным на карте на русском языке, учащиеся поочередно накладывают карточки со словами на карту и произносят их. (Карта нарисована учащимися)

Teacher ->Pupil1, 2: Give me English equivalents to words on the map:

Whenever – когда бы ни; Fast – быстро;

Innkeeper – хозяин гостиницы; To dig – копать;

б) Индивидуальная деятельность

(во время работы класса с картой три ученика работают с перфокартами в индивидуальном порядке).

Задание: Подставь вместо пропусков нужное слово, прочти предложение, переведи.

Whenever people hear the name of R.L. Stevenson they always remember his novel “Treasure Island”.

The innkeeper was an old one – legged sailor.

Jim sat down inside the barrel.

He allowed them to row ashore and to see the island.

Ben Gunn showed him his cave.

Jim ran as fast as he could.

The pirates began to dig a deep hole with their hands and spades.

The pirates went towards the third tree to find the treasure.

3. Совершенствование навыков речевой деятельности (монолог, диалог)

Teacher: You know that not only Jim, the Doctor, and the Squire wanted to go to the Treasure Island and look for gold pieces, bars of gold and silver. Answer my question, please:

Teacher ->Pupil1: Who else wanted to find treasure? – Long John Silver and pirates did.

а) Диалог

(А.П. Старков: English 5. Page 337 – 338, Task 25).

Teacher: The Squire and the Doctor needed sailors for the ship t sail to West Indies. Listen to the Squire who wants to find sailors and asks John Silver to help him.

Squire: Hello, Who is the Master?

John Silver: I’m the Master. Hello! What can I do for you?

Squire: I have a problem.

John Silver: Let’s have a glass of rum and discuss your problem.

Squire: All right! I need a ship and sailors to sail to the West Indies.

John Silver: That’s wonderful! Many sailors come into my inn. I can find some good sailors for the ship and I myself would like to go as a cook on the ship.

Squire: O’ key! I agree with you. Have you ever been to the West Indies?

John Silver: Oh, yes, I know this Island I was a cook once on a ship which came there to get water. This is a fine place.

Squire: I hope you find sailors for the ship.

John Silver: Sure, I do.

Squire: Let it be so!

б) Контроль навыков аудирования

Teacher: Thank you! Answer my questions, please.

Teacher ->Pupil1, 2, 3: What kind of man was John Silver?

Pupil1: He was the leader of the pirates.

Pupil2: Other pirates said he was a bad man.

Pupil3: He was very cruel and cunning.

Teacher ->Pupil4: Why were pirates afraid of John Silver?

Pupil4: He could kill everybody in every moment.

Teacher ->Pupil5: What do you think John Silver’s words meant?

Pupil5: He wanted to get the treasure map, to kill the Squire and his friends and to have all the treasure from the Island.

в) Чтение с извлечением детальной информации из текста

Teacher ->Class: It’s high time to speak about Jim. He was on the ship while it was set sailing. It’s interesting to know what he was doing there, isn’t it? (Yes, it is). Let’s read the Task 26 at p. 338 and ask Jim your questions.

г) Учебный разговор в режиме Class ->Pupil1,2,3: (учащиеся практикуются в составлении вопросительных предложений).

Teacher ->Pupil1: After their long trip sailors saw an Island. It was Treasure Island. Your Home Task was to describe it. Pupil 1, 2 do it, please.

Teacher ->Pupil3: Do you agree with Pupil 1and Pupil 2? Will you describe the text in a short form?

4. Чтение с извлечением конкретной информации из текста

а) Драматизация, чтение по ролям (в это время выполняются индивидуальные задания на интерактивной доске)

Teacher ->Pupil1: Who met Jim as he was walking along the Island? (Ben Gunn).

Teacher ->Pupil 2: What was Ben Gunn? (He was a pirate. One day he was left by other pirates alone on that Island).

Teacher ->Pupil3, 4, 5: Well, let’s dramatize Jim and Ben Gunn’s talk (characters: an author, Jim, Ben Gunn). All the rest follow their reading very attentively. You are welcome to correct their reading. (А.П. Старков: English 5. Task 27, p. 340).

Teacher ->Pupil6, 7, 8: Will you continue reading, please?

б) Контроль выполнения индивидуальных заданий

Teacher ->Class: As Jim and Ben Gunn were walking through the wood, the Doctor, the Squire and other men were fighting against the pirates in the log house. Will you discuss those events?

Teacher ->Pupil1: Why did the Doctor and the Squire decide to leave the ship for the log house? (Answer: А.П. Старков: English 5. Task 27/II, p. 341 -342).

Teacher ->Pupil2: How did the Doctor, the Squire and their men defend the log house? (Answer: А.П. Старков: English 5. Task 27/III, p. 341 -342).

Teacher ->Pupil3: Why did John Silver and another man come to the log house with a white flag? (Answer: А.П. Старков: English 5. Task 28/I - 2, p. 344).

Teacher ->Pupil4: How did the pirates begin their attack? (Answer: А.П. Старков: English 5. Task 28/I - 3, p. 344).

Teacher ->Pupil5: Thanks! Nevertheless, the Doctor and his men gave a map to Long John Silver and left the log house. Why?

Pupil5: Ben Gunn has already found that treasure.

Teacher: Well, and now our pirates are going to look for their treasure. They are very glad: soon they’ll become rich. Treasure seems to be near, here, everywhere.

Look! They are laughing, singing and dancing.

Teacher ->Class: Thank you! Let me see what’s up then. I would like you to put sentences on the blackboard in their logical turn and match them with some sketches I have got (Учащиеся соотносят предложения {1,2,3,4,5} из главы 29 с сюжетными картинками {a,b,c,d,e}, которые были нарисованы ими к уроку). 1. The pirates let the map go from hand to hand and looked at it.

3. The pirates jump into the hole and began to dig with their hands and spaders.

5. The Doctor and Ben Gunn ran out of the wood.

2. Next morning the pirates took their spades and went to look for their treasure.

4. Two pirates fell, and the rest ran away after three shots came from the wood.

7. Контроль домашнего задания

Teacher ->Class: Well, a good beginning makes a good ending. The Doctor, the Squire and their men are going to return home with their treasure. Your Home Task was to describe those last events in some words. Look through the text and retell it in a short form. (Task 30, p. 346 -347)

б) Чтение с извлечением детальной информации из текста, монологические высказывания нескольких учащихся.

Teacher ->Class: Find out the facts to prove that the Doctor and his people werw kind and just persons. Answer my questions, please.

Teacher ->Pupil1: How did they punish the pirates? (The Doctor said: “We must leave the pirates on the island but we must give them some food, guns and powder, so that they can live / The Doctor said that they should leave the pirates on the island but they should give them some food, guns and powder, so that they could live).

Teacher ->Pupil2: How did they care of their wounded captain? (The Doctor and his people needed new sailors to come back to England. They didn’t order the captain to do it but found a new sailor team themselves and sailed the ship home).

III. Заключительный этап урока

1. Подведение итогов урока

Teacher: Analyze the novel, please!

Pupil1: This novel is very interesting. It is an adventure novel. We have learned interesting facts of those times when pirates lived.

Pupil2: We have learned many new words. The showed us brave and kind people: the Doctor and his friends.

Pupil3: We saw greedy and cruel pirates. In conclusion we can tell you that the kindness won cruelty.

2. Объявление отметок учащимся

Teacher: We have discussed the novel of a famous English writer R.L. Stevenson.

I think you like it. I believe everybody will find his own treasure in his life. I give you “fours” and “fives” today.
