На рынок образовательных услуг поступает все больше компьютерных программ по различным дисциплинам учебного плана, в том числе и по иностранным языкам, которые можно использовать в учебных заведениях разного уровня. Но для того, чтобы успешно использовать их в учебном процессе или при самостоятельной работе, необходимо иметь высокую мотивацию к обучению, сильную волю, сформированные навыки набора англоязычных текстов на клавиатуре и высокий уровень обученности в целом. Не каждый обладает этими качествами. Кроме того, для установки компьютерных учебных курсов и программ известных производителей требуется высокая квалификация преподавателя иностранного языка в области информационных технологий.
Процесс оснащения кабинетов иностранного языка компьютерами находится пока в начальной стадии, и на этом этапе вполне оправдано использование учебных материалов, созданных с использованием наиболее доступных офисных приложений и подготовленных самими преподавателями.
В данной статье хотелось бы рассказать об опыте создания системы иллюстративной графики, предназначенной для работы с профессионально-ориентированным текстом. Цикл занятий с ее использованием проведен в ГОУ СПО “Серпуховский машиностроительный техникум Московской области”. Цели, план и ход итогового занятия следующие.
Цели:
- формирование навыков и умений иноязычного общения в социально-бытовой и частично в профессиональной сфере;
- развитие общественно ценных качеств личности: инициативности, коллективизма и ответственности, совершенствование культуры поведения;
- изучение реальной действительности в игровой форме;
- расширение общекультурного кругозора учащихся: изучение образца структурирования и компрессии профессионально-ориентированных текстов, совершенствование профессиональной компетенции.
План:
- Организация начала занятия, выполнение упражнения “для разогрева”.
- Работа с текстом “General Rules of Communication”.
- Ролевая игра “Education in Russia”.
- Выполнение тестового задания.
- Подведение итогов урока.
Ход занятия:
1. Организация начала занятия, выполнение упражнения “для разогрева”
Every day we meet different people: our business partners, potential customers, friends, relatives. We share different kinds of information, try to prove, to argue, to discuss, to insist. And today the theme of our lesson is “We Study the Science of Meeting People”. Our today’s lesson is unusual; we are going to work with the assistance of computers.
Nowadays every well managed school has computer classes for teaching and studying different subjects, computers free the teacher to do what he or she should do – help his or her student get acquainted of the world.
Now we’ll work with PowerPoint. This program is designed for preparing business presentations but it can also be used in education, because it has the feature of presentation of the texts and other educational matters organized in slides, in different colors, using the photos, music, and sound. Before we start, we’ll have the “warming-up” exercise. Let’s read the manual, and while reading try to do what is written.
The educational materials in PowerPoint are organized in several slides, which run one after another if you choose the commands Показ слайдов —> Начать показ. To move from one slide to another use the left mouse button to click over the screen.
PowerPoint has a lot of features.
For example, if you click over the screen with the right mouse button, a pop-up menu will appear in the screen.
- If you choose the items Переход —> Навигатор or Указатель слайдов, you will be able to move to the slide which is necessary for you at the moment.
- If you choose the item Заметки докладчика, a pop-up window will appear in the screen. Usually it contains notes made by the one who prepared this presentation for usage, though in the slide construction mode you can add different notes or commentaries in the window Заметки к слайду.
- If you need to mark something in the screen you may select the items Указатель —> Карандаш there. Additionally you can specify the color of the marker.
- If you forgot all this recommendations you may choose the item Справка and read what is necessary for you in an information table.
- If you want to stop the slide show, choose the item Завершить показ слайдов.
Please perform all these actions only when the teacher asks you to perform them in order to make the work of the group coordinated.
It is very useful to know how to run PowerPoint. If you know how to make presentations, you can organize your own materials for the lessons, and all the students of the group will be happy to know what you are about and how you have made your presentation: if there are slides only, if you used some photos, sound and music and even films. You can study all the features of PowerPoint at the lessons of Computer Science.
2. Работа с текстом “General Rules of Communication”
In the focus of our lesson there is a text. The title of the text is “General Rules of Communication”. The text is difficult: it is long, contains a lot of new words and grammar phenomena. All educational materials are organized in the presentation “We Study the Science of Meeting People” (Приложение). What is the Russian for “Meeting People”?
There are 11 slides in the presentation. New words are given in four slides, one slide contains the text. To work with these slides please use a pop-up window Заметки докладчика. Two of the slides are designed for grammar revising and need Карандаш to be used.

Работа с текстом включает в себя выполнение предтекстовых, текстовых и послетекстовых упражнений (ролевую игру), а также тестовый модуль. Основным недостатком использования компьютерных учебных курсов и программ в учебном процессе является их низкая коммуникативность. Для устранения этого недостатка можно включить в учебный процесс ролевые и деловые игры [2].

The level of educational standards in Russia is high, and as a good example of high standards of teaching we can use Seprukhov machine-building technical school.
“Serpukhov machine-building technical school”
Сцена 1. Выступление директора.
Lots of young people in our town and in Moscow, Kaluga and Tula regions want to know as much as possible about it.
Serpuknov machine-building technical school is the oldest technical school in our town. It was founded 75 years ago by the Russian merchant Fedor Konshin. The technical school produced a great number of specialists for different branches of industry.
We have 5 departments, 10 laboratories, a workshop, a computer center with the access to the Internet, and a museum. The list of the specialties our technical school offers is the following: electricians, technicians, accountants, economists, managers.
There are over 30 teachers and instructors here.

Journalist: Prospective students often contact the technical school with questions concerning application procedures, course requirements, tuition fees and accommodations. We are happy to present a few of the most frequently asked questions and hope that our program will be helpful for pupils who may be considering studying at Serpukhov machine-building technical school. How can a person receive an application package?
Dean: You may receive an application package by contacting our main office through the mail or via the Internet. Be aware that the information available through the mail is very limited due to shipping costs and time. The very same information may be accessed on the Internet and this information is updated much more regularly and may be fully counted on to reflect the current requirements of our school.

What must a person do to become a student?Dean:
The first thing required is that the prospective students pass the entrance examination well and decide on a program of study. Our faculties offer undergraduate degree programs. The undergraduate program requires three or four years of residence and terminates with the awarding of the appropriate degree. Applicants to enter our technical school are required to make decisions concerning their intended area of specialization. The department receives new students during the last week of August each year, and the academic year officially begins on the first of September. Students should also at this time indicate what sort of accommodations they will require.Journalist:
What about course requirements? What kinds of classes are offered, and when?Dean:
The official schedule of courses for any given semester, the class times and instructors, is, unfortunately, only available a few days prior to the first day of classes, the first of September. However there is a standard course of study for students in each department which remain more or less the same from year to year. Students, in addition to their required lectures and seminars, may elect to attend special courses and seminars. A list of such courses may be accessed through the departments' web-pages.Journalist:
Will students receive language training?Dean:
All students are tested for language competency during the first week. Based on the results of these tests, students are enrolled in a language class, wherein they may work to improve their skills. Teachers try to group students of similar research interests together. Students, on the average, meet once a week for two hours. Students are expected to work hard to improve their speaking, reading and writing skills.Journalist: Thank you for the interview.

At the beginning of the second year the students of our technical school have practice at our workshop in order to receive the first habits of work. Usually our students have a lot of questions about machine-tools, what they are used for and if they are easy to operate. Ann, a student of group 221, asks a foreman these questions.
Ann: What are the machine-tools used for?
Foreman: Machine-tools are used to shape metals, they help people to perform different operations with metals. Many different machines of industrial and domestic applications have the machine-made parts. You certainly can study how to produce these parts but a bit of desire and patience are necessary.
Ann: What kinds of machine-tools are there in your workshop?
Foreman: We have drilling and boring machines, lathes, shapers and planners. Most of them have electro-drive.
Ann: How is it necessary to take care of the machine-tools?
Foreman: We must take care of the machine-tools as if they are people. It is necessary to lubricate the machine-tool, to sweep shaving out of the machine-tool, to check power supply and the machine-tool will be in order for many years.
Ann: What specialties of those people who operate the machine-tools are there?
Foreman: People who operate the machine-tools have different specialties because they perform different operations, but there are only 6 grades of workers.
Ann: What operations can the machine-tools perform?
Foreman: There are many different operations the machine-tools can perform, but the most commonly used are milling, drilling and grinding operations.
Ann: I’ll wait for beginning of our practice impatiently because according to your words this occupation is very interesting.

Journalist: Are you going to enter Serpukhov machine-building technical school? What department did you choose?
Entrant: I’d like to study economics and I believe I’ll be lucky and pass the examinations well.
Journalist: Why have you chosen this science?
Entrant: My mother is an accountant and my father is a financier. I think economics is very important science nowadays and a lot of Russian companies are seeking for qualified staff.
Journalist: Are you a mother of this young man? Are you nervous? Are you worrying about your son’s entrance?
Mother: Certainly, the entrance examination period is an important period in our life but I hope those who have studied hard will manage to pass the examinations well.
Journalist: We wish you good luck.
4. Тестовый модуль
В связи с тем, что в данном случае мы рассматриваем первый опыт использования системы иллюстративной графики в качестве средства презентации лексического, грамматического и текстового материала с помощью компьютера, основная функция тестового модуля – развивающая. Тестовый модуль (слайд 10) содержит три задания: задание на выбор правильного ответа, подбор синонимичных и контрастирующих пар и задание на поиск соответствия. Используя Карандаш, нужно округлить правильные варианты ответов и соединить модальные глаголы с их значениями. В первом задании правильные ответы специально выстроены по краю левого паруса, во втором задании правильные ответы выстроены по краю правого паруса, в результате выполнения третьего задания, расположенного в “трюме” парусника, получается фигура “снежинка”.
5. Подведение итогов урока
Игровую деятельность учащихся можно оценить по следующим критериям: количество участников игры, знание текстового материала каждым из участников, качество подготовленной иллюстративной наглядности.
Необходимо отметить, что само по себе использование в учебном процессе компьютера не является фактором оптимизации учебного процесса по дисциплине “Иностранный язык”. Использование компьютеров приближает учебный процесс к современным требованиям, дает экономию времени на введение учебного материала, служит формированию профессиональной компетенции учащихся.
В самое последнее время в учебных целях часто используются специальные web-страницы, которые может организовать для себя каждый обучаемый или группа сотрудничества. В заключение работы с Презентацией можно предложить учащимся сохранить ее следующим образом: Файл —> Сохранить как веб-страницу. Это небольшое упражнение поможет расширить кругозор учащихся и пополнить арсенал средств создания web-страниц.
