• Phraseological Euphemisms in Modern English 2006

  Phraseological euphemisms are divided into several phraseo-semantic groups from the point of view of their meaning. Each group is characterized by its own peculiarities. The analysis of the synonymic group of PEs with the meaning "to die" has shown, first of all, the difference of images upon which the English phraseological euphemisms are based. A very large group of PEs belongs to equivalent phraseological synonyms. Two types of non-equivalent phraseological synonyms were singled out: stylistic and stylistic-ideographic.
