1.Say I'm happy to welcome you to our virtual tour around British places in Moscow. When travelling around Moscow you need to find the answers for the quiz in your travel journal (Приложение 2) (Hand out the travel journals). Let's get started. Look! (Слайд 4) You can see the white stone building. It's the Old English Court built in the 16th century in Varvarka Street not far from the Kremlin. It's one of the oldest buildings in Moscow. It's famous for being the first official foreign residence in Russia, the English embassy. Today it's a museum devoted to Anglo-Russian relations in the 16th-17th centuries. Thanks to its unique acoustics the Main Hall of The Old English Court is used for music concerts. Now the 1st question from your travel journal. Look at the picture (Слайд 5) and say who participated in the opening of the museum in 1994. Students answer in the travel journals. (Correct answer: Queen Elizabeth II)
Students mark the correct answer in their travel journals.
Let's go downstairs into the basement. Look (Слайд 6) and find what products British people brought from Russia (Answer: leather, fur).
2. Say. Look! Do you know this famous building? (Слайд 7) Right. It's TSUM or Central Department Store. It's beautifully decorated by arches, towers and delicate windows (point to them in the picture). Can you name the architectural style? (Students choose the right option- Neo-Gothic).
Look up at the round window on the right? It's called the rose window (you point).
The history of TSUM started in the 19th century when two Scottish businessmen Andrew Muir and Archibald Mirrielees opened their shop in Moscow and called it "Muir and Mirrielees. They sold clothes, shoes, jewelry, perfume and many other things. For the 19th century the shop was very modern. Now the question "What invention made the visitors scared?" (Слайд 8) (Answer: electric lifts).
Another interesting fact! Look and say what famous Russian writer called his two dogs Muir and Mirrielees (Cлайд 8) (Answer- A.Chekhov)
3. Say Now you are going to watch a short film about another British place in the centre of Moscow, St. Andrew's Anglican Church. When watching you need to complete the missing information about the place in your travel journal. Give students time to look through the information they need to complete. Play the film. (Слайд 9) (Answers: 6.1883, 7. Manchester, 8. Bells, 9. music studio).

The sculpture was made in 2007 on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the first story publication about the adventures of a brilliant detective and his friend.
Now you need to do the crossword to find one of the symbols of Sherlock which he is holding in his right hand. Students solve the crossword in their travel journals.
5. Check the answers for the quiz together.
