Aim(s):

Practice a grammar structure "There is/are …" and short answers "Yes, there is" or "No, there isn't"

Materials needed:

A video fragment

Preparation:

• children should remember the prepositions of place, the words on topics (colors, my room)
• printed pictures from the video with two rooms for each student

Procedure:

Step 1. The teacher shows a video fragment to remind a structure "There is/are …" and pause it.

Step 2. Then the teacher asks some questions:
- Is there a bookcase in the room?
- Is there a bookcase behind the desk?
- Is there a carpet on the floor?
- Is there a computer on the desk?
- Are there any flowers in the room?
- Are there few books on the shelves?
- Are there two beds in the room?
Children answer "Yes, there is/are" or "No, there isn't/aren't".

Step 3. The teacher asks one pupil to look at the room for some seconds as attentively as he can and describe it.

The teacher gives the opportunity to some stronger pupils to compare 2 rooms.
