Materials needed:

Starters, Movers, Flyers Handbook, Cambridge University Press, 19 page

- Pictures to show the action verbs

Preparation:

Teacher shows pictures with action verbs (run, ride, walk, play, throw, sing, etc) to revise

Procedure:

Step 1. Teacher asks learners to read 5 sentences and find the action verbs

Step 2. Teacher asks learners to read the sentences again and answer 'yes' or 'no' like in an example.
There are two armchairs in the living room. (yes)
The big window is open. (no)

Questions
1. The man has got black hair and glasses.
2. There is a lamp on the bookcase.
3. Some of the children are singing.
4. The woman is holding some drinks.
5 The cat is sleeping under an armchair.

Step 3. Teacher asks learners to make up the sentences looking around the class and other learners answer yes or no.

Variation(s)

Learners read and comprehend text at a sentence level. More motivated learners make up the sentences. All learners use the action verbs.
