To teach students how to describe the people, activities, background in the photo in as much detail as possible for 1 minute. |

Printed materials (pictures), list of useful language |

Preparation: |
Find colour pictures which show everyday situations relevant to their age group. |

Procedure: Step 1. The teacher explains the task overview and tells about time restrictions (1 minute). Step 2. Students watch the video of Roberto and Simone doing a B1 Preliminary for Schools Speaking test (Part 2) and read / discuss the examiner comments Step 3. The teacher draws students' attention to the list of useful phrases, fluency, connectors, speculating, prepositions of place, grammar tenses, adjectives describing feelings. Step 4. Each student is given one colour photograph to describe. |

Variation(s) |
The teacher can divide all students into pairs to describe the pictures to each other. They can also assess their partner's speaking (using a great range of grammar structures and vocabulary, pronunciation, time limit, global achievement).

Reflections |
The teacher can choose the shots from the films which are popular among teenagers in order to match their interests and motivate them to speak.
