Municipal Stage (Part 1)

(Звучит волынка, на сцену выходят 2-е ведущих.)

Host 1. Dear Friends! Ladies and Gentlemen, Children and Grown-ups! Our dear guests! We are happy to see you in this wonderful hall and welcome you to our annual English Talent show!

Host 2. We are the show’s hosts … and …. School № … (фанфары)

Host 1. Learning English language is very important in our life and today we propose to learn English together. Our young creative & talented singers, reciters, actors will try to get you into the atmosphere of English music, literature and poetry.

Host 2. Our show has its rules and regulations. The award categories are: Solo, Chorus, Recitation, Staging. All nominations are judged on criteria’s: Time for performance, Accuracy and Fluency, Performance Skills, Repertoire originality, Knowledge of English- speaking countries culture, Appearance.

Host 1. And, of course, your expressiveness and originality.

Host 2. At the end of this show the best participants will get rewards. To start our event, we have to introduce our jury. It consists of our lovely school teachers and independent experts. But we are going to warn you that they are very strict.

Host 1. Are they really strict? I can see them smiling.

Host 2. Perhaps I’ll agree with you.  So, let's welcome our jury. (музыка, приветствуем жюри)

Host 1. Our contest will take place in two parts: The first part is for students from second to seventh grades. Then will have a break and the second part is for students from 8th to 11th grades. At the end of each part the head of the jury will announce the results.

Host 2. And one more rule – you should clap your hands after each performance to support the participant. It’ll be the best prize from the audience. I hope you will enjoy all of them!

Host 1. Sure, it is interesting and inspiring to participate in such unusual English shows where everything smells with English.

Host 2. Yes, it is fun! And I feel the upcoming holiday. Well, it’s time to start the show. So have a nice time! Off we go. (фанфары, приветствие первого участника)

Host 1. Literature and poetry of English- speaking countries are greatly admired for their poetic language, dramatic technique and rich literary style. Now you’ll have a chance to make sure about it. Host 2. Софья, Would do you like to meet the UFO?

Host 1. Me?  Why not? I am sure it would be interesting. But, it’s impossible!

Host 2. Then meet students from School № … (3), leading teacher … Оur juniors will perform us a staging “UFO and his friends”. Let's welcome!

Host 1. Thank you, boys and girls, it was fine!

Host 2. Let's welcome our next performer (4) …, School №…, with a poem «My shadow» by Robert Louis Stevenson, leading teacher ….

Host 1. Thank you, it was excellent! Now please welcome to the stage (5) …, School № …, with a poem «The Snowman», by Debbie Diller, leading teacher … Let's welcome!

Host 1. Thank you, it was excellent! I’m so impressed! Our children are so talented and charming!

Host 1. Thank you, it was very good! Our children understand the importance of English and they like learning it. I think we will be surprised many times today. Host 2. Thank you, boys and girls, you are charming! We continue our show. ________, do you like fishing?

Host 1. Honestly, not… Why are you asking? I don't even know how to hold the fishing-rod.

Host 1. Thank you, it was brilliant! This is the end of the first part. We’ll give some time to our jury to discuss everything and then to announce the results.

Host 1. In this part the students of 8 th -  9 th - 10 th and 11th forms take part in. Well, our participants are ready to start and it’s time to welcome to the stage (18) …, School № …, leading teacher … song «Awake Jay Hope». Please, welcome!

Host 2. Thank you, your singing is impressive! Please welcome (19) …, School № … leading teacher …, listen to the extract of the play “Monologue of Hamlet” by William Shakespeare.  Let’s welcome!

Host 1. Thank you, you are very artistic and emotional! Poetry is the language of imagination, feelings and emotions. Poetry is a lot of things to a lot of people.

Host 2. Now I’d like to give the floor to girls from School № …, leading teacher … Let's hear a famous poem «If …», by Rudyard Kipling (20) … and… Please, enjoy them!

Host 1. Thank you girls! You are impressive! Now let’s sing again. I am sure you’ll enjoy the next song sung by our next performer (21) …, School № …, leading teacher … Listen to the song «Don t let me down», by Leona Lewis.

Host 2. Thank you, it was convincing! When I listen to music it pictures in my mind happy days and different seasons. Music enriches our hearts and feelings. Do you agree?

Host 1. Thank you, your singing is charming! Well, let’s come back to poetry.  Our students understand the importance of English and they like learning it. Welcome a poem «If …», by English Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling and our next participant (24) …, a student of School №…, leading teacher… 

Host 2. As one famous Englishman said "Poetry is what makes me laugh or cry or yawn, what makes me want to do this or that or nothing." And the next our participant (25) …, a student of School №…, leading teacher …, wants to recite a poem «Night»,by William Blake. Listen and enjoy!

Host 1. Thank you, it was very good!  They say - Talent is something you can do what other people cannot do! It’s something special in your mind! And our next performer will demonstrate you her pronunciation skills.

Host 2. Sounds great! Then please welcome (28) …, a student of School №…  leading teacher… with a humorous Tongue twister «Grip Top Sock».

Host 1. Well done, Анастасия, that’s just unbelievable! It was the Funniest play! We continue our show. Some people are crazy about sports, some about music, but most are crazy about love.

Host 2. About love? Really?  Love is the greatest thing in the world as well. And I know two very pretty girls who sing so wonderfully about this feeling. Let’s meet (29) … School №…, leading teachers… and … with a song «Crazy in Love», by Beyonce, and Jay-Z. Listen and have fun!

Host 1. Your applause to our singers. It was fantastic! Thank you, girls, you are brilliant!

Host 2. So, ______ do you like drinking tea?

Host 1. Of course, it’s my favorite drink.

Host 2. I invite you to unusual tea-party then, with famous fairy-tale characters. But I’m not sure you’ll enjoy it…

Host 1. It sounds strange. Let’s see…

Host 2. On the stage our next participants, a group of students of School…, (31) …, leading teacher… Welcome to Wonderland to “Mad Tea party”, by Lewis Carroll.

Host 2. Applause to girls! Thank you, it was magnificent!

Host 1. Unfortunately, everything good has its end. And our show is also coming to its end.

Host 2. What do you mean? Are you going to announce our last performer?

Host 1. I mean that a student of School №… (32) … and a famous song «Thank you for music», by ABBA, will give us a great hope that we will meet again someday. Your applause to … and her leading teacher …!

Host 2. Thank you, your singing is fascinating! It was our last participant. Thank you very much. It was a real pleasure. Everybody has tried to do his best.

Host 1. We’ll give some time to our jury to discuss everything and then to announce the results. It’s been a contest and we have to choose the winners. So, while our jury is working enjoy performers of Children’s Cultural Center.
