Ход урока
1. Организационный момент.
Приветствие класса: Good morning. How are you today? I’m glad to see you again.
Проверка отсутствующих в классе: Let me know, who is absent today?

2. Определение темы урока.
Make a proverb from the words:
- A room without books is like a body without a soul.
And a famous English saying from the words:
- Reading gives you superpowers.
Let’s work in small groups of 4-5.
Pupils will guess the main topic of the lesson .
Suddenly a librarian comes in.
Librarian: “Hello, children! I decided to order some books for our school library, but I don’t know, what books and what types of books I should order. Can you help me?”
Children: “Of cause, we’ll help you!”

Pupils guess: we should discuss books, place that books take in our life, why people read books, types of books, problem of reading in the Internet’s century, and other questions connecting with books, authors and knowledge.

Where can you find all the mankind knowledge?
Any ideas? You may think in the Net , but it’s not right. The Internet contains only 40-50 percent of information. Books contain all the existing knowledge.
Questions to discuss:
- Do you read?
- What types of reading material do you prefer?
- What types of reading material can you use?
- Look at Chart- preference reading material in the UK. Ex, 1 p. 36
- A lot of people prefer reading magazines.
- Half of the people prefer reading comics.
- Forty per cent of the people prefer reading websites.
- Twenty per cent of the people prefer reading newspapers.
- A few of the people prefer reading e-books.
So, what conclusion can you make?
- Most of us prefer reading books, it is the best way of receiving information and entertainment.
