T - A lot of famous writers lived in Great Britain. They were Charles Dickens, Robert Burns, William Shakespeare, Sir Walter Scott. Many places in the UK are closely connected with their names. Would you like to tell us about these writers? What do you know about them?

Dialog 1
P1 - I can tell you about William Shakespeare.
He was born on the 23-rd of April in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. His mother was the daughter of a farmer and his father was a glove-maker. William went to a grammar school in Stratford and had a good education. There he learned to love reading.
P2 – Did Shakespeare have a large family?
P1 - William married Anne Hathaway, a farmer’s daughter some years older than himself. They had three children.
P2 – When and where did he begin to act and write plays?
P1 – In 1587 Shakespeare went to work in London. In London he began to act and write plays. Most of his plays were performed in the Globe Theatre.
P2 – How long did Shakespeare live in London?
P1 – Shakespeare lived in Stratford the last three years of his life and he died there in 1616.
P2 – Did he write tragedies or comedies?
P1 – He wrote tragedies, for example, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, ”King Lear” and comedies “The Comedy of Errors”, “Twelfth Night” and many others.
P2 – Let’s go to the theatre and see some of his plays.
P3 – It’s a portray of Robert Burns, a great Scottish poet. I can tell you the poem “My Heart’s in the Highlands”. I like this poem very much.(p.41 ex.21)

P4 – Have you ever been to Edinburgh?
P5 – Edinburgh? I’ve never been to Scotland. Is Edinburgh bigger than London?
P4 – No, it isn’t. But it is the most beautiful city in the world.
P5 – When I‘m in Edinburgh, what should I see first?
P4 – The Castle, Holyrood Palace, Princes Street.
P5 – That will take me several days, I’m sure. And what’s the best place to buy souvenirs?
P4 – Any big shop in Princes Street.
P5 – Princes Street. I must remember that. When is the best time to come to Edinburgh?
P4 – August or September. This is the time when Edinburgh military tattoo takes place.
P5 – The military tattoo? What is this? What a strange name!
P4 – It’s a show in which about 600 people play military music and march to it.
P5 – Thank you. I’d like to visit Scotland.

Liebe Lisa, viele Grüße aus Weimar. Gestern war ich in Weimar. Ich habe eine Stadtbesichtigung gemacht. Das ist eine schöne Stadt. Weimar ist auch die Stadt der Museen. Hier lebten und arbeiteten J.W.Goethe und F.Schiller. Die beiden waren Freunde. Auf dem Platz steht das Goethe - Schiller Denkmal. Ich habe auch viele Interessantes gesehen: z.B. das Weimarhaus, das Grüne Schloss; das Fürstenhaus, das Nationaltheater. Der Blick über Weimar bei der Nacht war toll. Ich habe zum Schluss noch Zwiebelmarkt besucht und viele Souvenirs gekauft. Sieh auf den Fotos. Viele Grüße auch deine Eltern.
