Объявление темы и задач урока:
T: Today we are going to talk about learning and school experiences; to practice using vocabulary of schools and using listening strategies. The theme of our today’s lesson is very important and essential to you, I think. It’s education. So, look at the blackboard and read.
T: Do you understand all words? – OK.
T: And now how do you understand it?
T: What do you think you will “forget” when you leave school? And, what is school and what is education?

T: Let’s begin. Before we start, read through the keywords and the words in the table.
T: Well, what does the word “assessment” mean? – (обложение, плата) – OK.
T: And how does the word “xop” pronounce?
T: Now, try to complete the table.

T: Ok. Let’s make up a short story using these words.
T: So, I begin and you will continue. (Pupils choose the right words)
There was a school. It was … (state/boarding/private ) school. There were lots of facilities … (gymnasium/swimming pool/library/science laboratories). Students could play … (chess). There was … (a dramar club/ choir). But there were a lot of rules. The teachers were … (strict but fair). Unfortunately, the students had many (subjects) on their timetable and had to wear the uniform. Thank you for your interesting story.
T: And now think about your “ideal” school.
In pairs, students discuss and plan their “ideal” school, thinking about where it is, how big, facilities, timetable and school rules.

T: And now let’s continue our lesson. Our next task is listening. But before listening, read through the strategies.
Listening strategies: Multiple-choice question
- Read the questions and alternative answers.
- Try to eliminate any unlikely answers and try to predict possible answers from your general knowledge.
- Decide what type of information you are listening for (e.g. adjectives, numbers, frequency or quantity words).
- Remember, the words in the recording may not be the same as the words in the question. Try to think of synonyms of important words.
- The first time you listen, try to get the general idea and mark any answers that are clearly correct.
- The second time, focus on the answers you are not sure of.
- If it is a test and you don’t know the answer, always guess!

That’s why, let’s start training. Well, I know, you don’t like wearing a school uniform. Look at the interactive board. This text is about arguments against a school uniform and complete the sentences with a word formed from the word in bold.
