ХОД УРОКА

Compere: Dear boys, girls and our guests! Today we are going to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. You will play games, guess riddles and take part in competitions. Now your classmates will tell you about this holiday and its story.

P 1: St. Valentine's Day is a day to share loving feelings with friends and family. It is also known as a holiday honouring lovers. It is celebrated on the 14th of February. There is wide-spread custom of sending greeting cards Valentines to those whom they love. The cards known as Valentines are often designed with hearts to symbolize love.

P 2: To tell the truth there is no historical reason why St. Valentine's Day should be so regarded. St. Valentine was a Christian martyr. One of the legends says that this Christian martyr sent a note of friendship to his jailer's blind daughter before he was put to death.

P 3: There was also another St. Valentine. He lived in Rome and was known as a Christian priest who would marry young couples against the order of the Emperor, who believed that unmarried young men were better soldiers.

P 4: St. Valentine is also believed to be the saint patron of birds. The legend says they choose their mates and begin to build their nests exactly on February 14.

Compere: I hope you know some poems and songs about St. Valentine's Day, about love. We would like to listen to you

P 5:

My Valentine
By M.C. Parsons
I have a little valentine
That someone sent to me
It's pink and white
And red and blue.
And pretty as can be.
Forget-me-nots are round the edge,
And tiny roses, too, and
Such a lovely piece of lace,
The very blue.
And in the centre there's a heart
As red as red can be!
And on it's written all in gold,
"To you, with love from me".

P 6: R. Burns "A Red, Red Rose".

P 7: Thomas Moore "When Love Is Kind".
