Comperes: Flower Queen –Rose, Tom the Gardener.
И. (Flower Queen Rose).
Tom the Gardener: - Good morning boys and girls! We’re glad you’re here.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Hello dear friends! Nice to meet you. Welcome to our Flowers’ Show!
Tom the Gardener: - I’m Tom the Gardener. Growing plants and flowers is my favourite hobby and work.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Can you guess who I am? Yes, you’re right; I’m Rose, the Flower Queen.
Tom the Gardener: - During the whole history of mankind people always admire the beauty of flowers. Artists painted them on the old cave walls, poets devoted them their verses.
Flower Queen – Rose: - As the American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Earth laughs in flowers”.
Roses, roses, beautiful roses…”.
Roses, Roses, beautiful roses
In colours red, white or pink.
I'm made in garlands,
Baskets or bouquets
For Celebrations what do you think!
I spread sweet fragrance
Where ever I go
Morning, noon or even the night.
People love me and lovingly treat me
For I'm a beautiful sight!
Roses, Roses, beautiful roses
In colours red, white or pink
Roses, Roses, beautiful roses
In colours red, white or pink.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Thanks for the nice song. The Rose is the national flower of many countries: the USA, the UK, and the Maldives. It has become the important heraldic symbol. During the "War of the Roses," a white rose symbolized the House of York; a red rose symbolized the House of Lancaster.
The wild rose is the state flower of such American states as Iowa, North Dakota, Georgia and New York.
Tom the Gardener: - In many countries of the world, a red rose symbolizes love and passion.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Thanks a lot! It’s magnificent! There is nothing more beautiful than flowers.
In the flower shop
A florist: - Hello, can I help you?
A young man: -Yeah, I need some flowers for my Mum because it is her birthday.
A florist: - We have some fresh orange roses.
A young man: - How much are they?
A florist: - Twenty dollars per dozen.
A young man: - That sounds like a good deal.
A florist: -Yes, that is today's sale price.
A young man: - I'll take a dozen.
A florist: - Is there anything else you'd like to get?
A young man: - Yes, a nice birthday card will be fine.
A florist: - I'm sure your mother will love the bouquet. Every mum loves to know that her son thinks about her.
Tom the Gardener: - Now we offer you to solve a quiz.
- Thanks for your answers dear friends.
Tom the Gardener: - Flower Queen what beautiful flowers you have got!
Flower Queen – Rose: - Yes, they are pretty. I’m going to give them to my best friend.
Tom the Gardener: - That’s fine! A bunch of yellow roses is the best way to show how you appreciate your friend. It’s the symbol of friendship.
Tom the Gardener: - When you arrange a bouquet of flowers you should be very attentive. A bunch of flowers can tell a person a lot. There is a special flower language. Can you match the name of a flower and its meaning?
Tom the Gardener: - That’s fine! You’ve done the perfect work my dear friends.
Учащиеся представляют сценку “Как цветок стал символом индейского племени” (“How a flower has become the tribal symbol”).
The Narrator: - Many, many years ago, there lived an old man alone in his house in the woods. Every winter day he had to collect branches to make a fire and warm his house.
The Old Man: - Oh, this winter is very severe. The snow is very deep and covers everything around.
The Old Man: - Oh, come in my dear friend. I’m glad to see you. My house is not very warm but it shields you from the wind.
The Girl: - Good morning! Thank you, you’re very kind.
The Old Man: - Who are you? What country are you from? Why are you wearing such strange clothes? Tell me about yourself. I am Manito. I breathe and ground is covered with snow.
The Girl: - I breathe and warm rains fall on the ground.
The Old Man: - I blow my breath and all rivers and lakes become frozen. I’m Manito.
The Girl: - I breathe and beautiful flowers grow in the fields and plains.
The Old Man: - When I walk, all birds and animals hide themselves in the ground.
The Girl: - When I walk, trees are green, flowers are in blossom and birds sing merry songs.
The Narrator: - They were talking too long and Manito fell asleep. Two birds flew to the house.
Two birds: - We’re thirsty, we’re thirsty.
The Girl: - Come in, I’m free now. I’ll help you.
The Narrator: - The Sebin (the river) helped the birds. Then she passed her hand over his head and Manito became small and his clothes turned into leaves.
The Narrator: - Where the Sebin stepped a tribal flower - the trailing arbutus, mayflower, grows now.
Tom the Gardener: - What an interesting legend! Yes, the trailing arbutus (эпигея) is a flower symbol of Massachusetts and a provincial flower of Nova Scotia, in Canada.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Can you guess a riddle? It’s a thorny purple plant, a national symbol of English- speaking country. What’s its name? Yes, that’s OK. It’s a thistle, the national emblem of Scotland. In the 15th century it was used as a symbol of defence.
Tom the Gardener: - Oh, I see one more guest. Hello!
Daffodil: - Can you guess who I am? I am a symbol of Wales. Daffodils are favourite flowers of many nations. In ancient Rome, I symbolized the victory. Romans brought me to Britain. In England, I am as popular as tulips are in Netherlands.
Yellow, yellow daffodil, dancing in the sun…
Oh yellow, yellow daffodil, you tell me spring has come.
I can hear a blue bird sing, and hear a robin call.
But yellow, yellow daffodil I love you most of all.
Flower Queen – Rose: - Yes, daffodils are spring flowers. Now, again it’s time for a game. We invite some students to the stage.

The Golden Wattle: - Hello Tom the Gardener! Hello dear friends! I’m the Golden Wattle, the national floral emblem of Australia. On the 1st of September, the Wattle Day is celebrated. In flower, the plant displays national colours of Australia, gold and green.
(The song “The Golden Wattle”)
The song “The Golden Wattle”
Golden Wattle, fairy stuff,
Little balls of yellow fluff.
Hear the bees how loud they hum
To say they're glad that Spring is come.
When the stars begin to peep
Then the wattle falls asleep.
Like a tired child in bed
It droops its pretty curly head.
The Girl: - Love me, love me not… Love me, love me not…
Flower Queen – Rose: - What are you doing? Why are you plucking the petals of the flower?
The Girl: - Oh, I want to know if my boyfriend loves me.
Flower Queen – Rose: - I see. By the way, the chamomile is the floral emblem of Russia. It’s very attractive and relaxes your senses. It’s a sign of love, admiration and gratitude.
Tom the Gardener: - Our holiday has come to the end. Thank you. Good-bye!
I Like the Flowers".
I love the mountains,
I love the rolling hills.
I love the flowers,
I love the daffodils.
I love the fireside
When the lights are low.
Boom de-ah-da,
Boom de-ah-da,
Boom de-ah-da,
Boom de-ah-da.
