Цели урока:

  1. Развитие знаний учащихся по теме “Англоговорящие страны”.
  2. Развитие навыков аудирования, говорения и чтения.
  3. Закрепление страноведческого материала по теме “Страны, языки и национальности”.

Оборудование: политическая карта мира, флаги стран мира, карточки с заданием.

Ход урока

I. Приветствие.

II. Организационный момент.

Look at the blackboard, please. There are some words. Who wants to read them?

На доске написаны названия стран:

  • Poland
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • China
  • Japan
  • Norway
  • Australia
  • The UK
  • France
  • Belgium
  • Greece
  • Spain
  • India
  • Jamaica и т.д.

Сначала дети читают названия стран.

What are they? (Countries). Can you match the countries and their flags? I have some flags on my desk, who can match them?

На столе учителя флаги разных стран и магниты. Дети по очереди подходят к столу, выбирают флаг и крепят его рядом с названием страны.

Затем учитель показывает страну на карте и задаёт вопросы: What language do people speak in …? What is the capital of… ?

III. Listening.

Учитель рассказывает о различных странах, не называя их, ученики должны отгадать:

  1. This country is situated in East Asia. It consists of 4 big islands. The people of this country are hard-working, romantic and they keep their traditions. This country is famous for its cuisine, it is rich in fish and some other sea products.
    Also it/s famous for 2 cities which were bombed during the Second World War. (Japan)

  2. This country is situated in Asia, it’s the third largest country in the world. It has got one official language, but there are a lot of different dialects. Paper, silk and tea were invented there. It’s the most populated country in the world.
    The Olympic Games took place in this country in 2008. (China)

  3. This country is situated in Asia. In the 19th century it was British colony. This country is the motherland of chess. It’s very exotic country. For example the elephants are used here for building, they carry big and heavy logs. And it’s famous for great monument Taj Mahal. (India)

  4. This country is situated in Europe. The ancient Romans called this country “The country f the rabbits”. Nowadays it’s famous for its national football team, unusual artists, flamenco and bullfighting. (Spain)

  5. This country is situated in Europe and it is the smallest country in the world. It’s population is only 800 people. But this country has got it’s own currency, stamps and newspaper. It has got its own army from Switzerland. (Vatican)

  6. This country is situated in the Caribbean Sea in Central America. The capital of this country is Kingston, the official language is English. It was the sugar colony of Great Britain. It is famous for its sportsman, the best runner in the world Usain Bolt and famous singer Bob Marley. (Jamaica)

  7. This country is situated next to Australia. It looks like Italy upside down. It is called the “World’s Biggest Farm”. The official languages are English and Maori. But English is spoken in a very unusual way. It is called Kiwi English. (New Zealand).

  8. It is situated in South America. The official language is Portuguese. It is famous for its first soap operas, great football team, Amazon forests and coffee. (Brazil)

IV. Speaking. 

Now I want you to tell about these countries. You’ll work in pairs. I’ll give you a plan and you should prepare a short story about some country.

(Учитель раздает детям карточки с планом, на обратной стороне написано название страны. Ученики составляют рассказ о стране, не называя её. Остальные должны отгадать).

  1. Where is it situated?
  2. What is the capital of this country?
  3. What is the official language?
  4. What do you know about personal characteristics of its people?
  5. What is this country famous for?
  6. Any other points.

(Примерный рассказ о стране: This country is situated in Africa. The capital of it is Cairo. The official language is Arabic. The people of this country are kind, merry and talkative.

Затем ученики составляют свои рассказы о странах. Примерные страны: Россия, Италия, Австралия, Греция, Германия, Нидерланды и т.д.)

Учитель: So many countries, so many languages.

V. How can people from different countries communicate with each other?

  • Is it good to have one international language? Why?
  • What do you know about Esperanto?
  • Why do you think Esperanto didn’t become popular in the world?
  • What English-speaking countries do you know? Can you show them on the map?

На доске политическая карта мира, один ученик выходит к доске, называет и показывает англоговорящие страны.

VI. Listening and reading.

Now I want you to open the Student’s books on page 44.

Why do you think it is important to learn English? - ответы учеников

Look at the information map and find out if you have told about all the possible reasons.

Ученики выполняют упражнение 42 на с. 44.

Затем ученикам предлагается выяснить, почему они изучают английский язык. Для этого учащиеся делятся на 3-4 группы и получают карточки с именами одноклассников. Каждый ученик может назвать 3 самые важные причины, почему он изучает иностранный язык.

2 – to get a better job in future;
3 – to communicate with people in the world;
4 – to understand films and songs in English;
5 – to read English and American literature;
6 – to have good marks in English at school;
7 – to study abroad;

9 – to like the language.

Затем один ученик от одной группы рассказывает, почему его одноклассники изучают иностранный язык. После этого подводятся итоги, какие причины изучения иностранного языка являются самыми популярными в классе.
