Well, now we know what kind of books you prefer. And what about other people of your age, and people of elder generation? Your hometask was to carry out a survey. Are you ready to present your findings? Take the floor, please.

The pupils’ survey results

New to the world of electronic gadgets are electronic books, e-books. Many people wonder if the traditional book will go away and be replaced by an electronic reading version. Some don’t really understand the differences between traditional reading material and electronic reading material. (Слайд 14)

That is the reason why we decided to make this research, which aims were to know

1. if teachers and pupils have an idea of e-books;
2. if they prefer printed books or e-books;
3. if they think that the traditional book will be replaced by e-books.

We asked 28 teenagers and 28 teachers from our school and found out that all of them have an idea of what e-book is. (Слайд 16)

The next question was which format was preferred by these two groups of people.

The results are shown in the chart. As you can see, all people of the elder generation prefer printed books. While only 36% (per sent) of teenagers prefer printed books and 21% of them like to read digital format of books. (Слайд 17)

There are some differences between answers of these two groups for the last question. Look at the chart please. An equal percentage (46) of pupils and teachers think that both printed and electronic books will exist in the future. Compare: 28% (per sent) of teenagers believe that traditional books will go away and only 8% of teachers are of the same opinion. (Слайд 18)

Our findings show that e-books are much more popular with teenagers. Even if e-books have a lot of advantages over printed ones, they are still too new to the market to say that they are better than traditional books. We can conclude that there is a place for both of them.

Yes, you are right, we should be grateful that we have a book, and it doesn’t matter of what format it is. Because book is the world of thoughts and knowledge.
