2. Основной этап. Контроль выполнения домашнего задания.
Преподаватель: What makes something an icon? Icons are symbolic – they represent something in English culture, history or the English way of life. Icons are recognizable in a crowd – if no-one has heard of it or knows what it looks like, it cannot be an icon. Icons are amazing and surprising. One day the British government launched a two-year project, called “Icons –a Portrait of England”, to try and find the most significant symbols of England and Englishness. Hundreds of thousands of people, both in England and abroad took part in the project and nominated things they like most about England. слайд №1
Преподаватель представляет “гостей из Великобритании”, которые “принимали участие в этом проекте”. Они расскажут о самых знаменитых и узнаваемых символах своей страны. Звучат рассказы студентов (развитие навыков устной подготовленной речи), сопровождаемые показом слайдов. Каждый слайд содержит краткую информацию устного сообщения.
3. Закрепление полученных знаний.
Преподаватель возвращается к началу презентации и просит студентов ответить на следующие вопросы.

Преподаватель предлагает студентам назвать то, с чем у них ассоциируется Великобритания. Please, name more icons of Great Britain. As for me I would mention football and tennis, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple, Winnie–the-Pooh and Robin Hood, Shakespeare and Churchill and of course Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. Студентам предоставляется возможность высказать свои идеи (развитие неподготовленной речи).
Варианты ответов: Harry Potter, Oxford & Cambridge, the Guinness Book, Robinson Crusoe, Scotland Yard, Piccadilly Circus, the Royal Family.
5. Подведение итогов: краткий анализ работы каждого студента, выставление оценок.
