Задачи урока:

  1. Формировать лексические навыки по теме “Телевидение”, учить заполнять таблицы.
  2. Обучать восприятию речи на слух с извлечением нужной информации.
  3. Обучать умению работать с газетами, интернетом и находить нужную информацию.
  4. Обучать умению вести дискуссию, выражать и отстаивать своё мнение.
  5. Формировать умения диалогической речи.

I. Организационный момент.

Неllo, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you. How are you today? Let’s begin our lesson. The topic we are going to discuss is “TV in our life.”We’ll discuss your favourite TV channels and programmes, will listen to real news, debate advantages and disadvantages of watching TV, make up dialogues.

II. Речевая разминка.

What is the weather like today? Have you heard the weather forecast for today? What are you going to do after your classes? Well. That’s great!

III. Опрос домашнего задания.

Everybody knows that, that millions of people` watch TV every day. Television dominates one’s life if the family watches it most of the time. And what about you? Answer my questions, please.

  1. How often do you watch TV?
  2. Do you prefer watching TV or doing anything else?
  3. Which channel do you choose?
  4. What kind of programmes do you prefer watching?
  5. Do you watch educational programmes?
  6. Do you prefer watching TV programmes for children or for adults?
  7. Which programmes are likely to be interesting for sports fans?
  8. Which programmes are likely to find information about other countries?

IV. Активизация учебного материала. Развитие умений аудирования. Просмотр видео.

It’s true that the world today is full of dramatic events and most news seems to be bad. But people aren’t interested in ordinary events. That’s why there are so many natural disasters, plane crashes, wars, murders and robberies. Good news doesn’t usually make headlines. Bad news does. Before watching the video, answer my questions:

  1. What is news? (The kind of event. To be news it must be immediate, current, important.)
  2. What kind of stories make news? (All kind of stories: accidents, political events, murders, etc.)
  3. Do only sad events make news? (It depends on what is happening on a particular day.)
  4. Do you think it would be great if all news shown on TV was good? (Yes, it would but…)

Now you’ll watch a video. Try to understand what kind of news is mentioned. Учащиеся просматривают видео и пытаются объяснить, что они увидели.

And what about you? What was the news last week? What news did you hear last week? Учащиеся читают новости, которые они подготовили дома.

Political news:

  • Snowden wants to return to US, but only after reform.

Now we are going to talk about advantages and disadvantages of watching TV.

You’ll try to do it in form of debates. Use expressions of agreement and disagreement.

Advantages Disadvantages
Student: Firstly, Television remains the most affordable source of information.

Student: Secondly, TV educates, informs and entertains people.

Student: Moreover, TV is the salvation for the lonely and the disabled.

Student: I’m convinced that television helps people to cope with everyday life.

Student: I insist that many TV programmes are made in good taste and with professional skills.

Student: In addition TV brings us closer to each other.

Student: I believe TV gives us opportunity to see the best actors and performances.

Student: TV reacts to events very quickly.

Student:

Student: I have to say TV is out of fashion today.

Student: In my opinion there is too much violence on TV.

Student: I know for sure, according to statistics teenager spend 27 hours a week in front of the box, eating fast food instead of playing sports.

Student: It’s obvious that television makes us passive and our brains become lazy.

Student: In my view it hurts our eyes.

Student: I feel advertising annoys the public.

Student: As for me, TV is bad for society because it keeps culture from growing.

Student: I think it’s a waste of time

2. Развитие диалогической речи.

Read this dialogue, find the mistakes and correct them.

Ellen: What shall we do in this evening?

Ann: Let’s watch television. What’s it on?

Ellen: I not sure. Where’s the TV guide?

Ann: Here it is. Hmm…On BBC1, the news is on now, and then there’s documentary at eight o’clock.

Ellen: What it about?

Ann: “On average, the British watch television more as four hours every day. What effect might this have on our health?”

Ellen: I not think I want to watch that. What’s on BBC 2?

Ann: Snooker – the final of World Championships.

Ellen: Yes, let’s watch that. Do you think Ronnie O’Sullivan going to win?

Ann: Not a chance. There’s not way he’s going to beat Mark Williams.
