Ход урока
1. Организационный момент.
Good morning, dear friends. I am glad to see you all. Sit down, please.
2. Today we have an unusual lesson. We’ll speak about our problems. Our life is changing greatly. Every day brings us something new, our beliefs are also different. Everybody sitting here has his own problems, I think.
Now, try to finish up the phrase “Being a teenager is…”.
P1: I think, being teenager means love, friends, conflicts.
P2: I’m sure, being a teenager means thinking about many problems
P3: To my mind, being a teenager means taking a lot of exams.

to avoid to keep away from something
3. I suggest you to divide into groups and discus the problems you have got. Whom do you appreciate best your family or your friends? Who understands you well? Give your points of view.
Then retell your classmate’s points of view.
4. And now you will hear three teenagers, answering the same questions “What do you think about being a teenager?”
Listen to the cassette and choose from the list A-D a sentence that describes each speaker. Use letters only once. There is one extra letter which you do not use.
Speaker 1. Everyone says that youth is probably the best time of life. I doubt whether it is true. It seems to me that it is the most difficult time. You have to make some very important decisions which will influence all your future life.
Speaker 2. Being a teenager means dates, love, new discoveries, choosing a career, thinking about many problems and ways to over come them.
Speaker 3. Being a teenager means taking a lot of exams. It is difficult. Especially, if you fall in love and can not think about anything but your love.
(Учащиеся выполняют задание по карточке)
I’m quite indifferent to many problems, but choosing career.
It is time for important decisions.
Exams make my life difficult.
Despite love and dates I think about everything in the world.
And now look what you have done.
5. There is a poem on the screen.
Why is nothing ever easy?
Why are some boys so very sleazy?
Why can’t I have that fashion new dress?
Why am I under so much stress?
Why do I feel so often unhappy?
Why do you wish I was still in a nappy?
Why does my face feel like a block of lard?
Why are all these years really hard?
There’s a reason for all these problems and tears.
I am going through my Teenage Years!
What problems does the girl touch upon in the poem?
(Pupils give their arguments. They use Reported speech)
6. I’ll read the extract from the teenager’s letter to the youth magazine.
“Дорогая страничка Advice Speсial! У меня проблемы с родителями. Они не понимают меня. Когда я хотела найти временную работу, чтобы не просить на карманные деньги, они запретили даже думать об этом. Они советуют мне сидеть дома и готовиться к экзаменам. Если я иду гулять, то я должна быть дома в 10 часов. Моим родителям не нравится музыка, которую я слушаю. Они считают, что я провожу слишком много времени со своими друзьями или за компьютером”.
(Pupils try to translate the text using Reported speech).
7. There is another extract from the magazine. Read the text and complete the sentences.
“Parents! Try to understand your children. Be friendly when our friends come to visit us. Remember that we need our private places. Don’t clean our rooms - we cannot find anything after your cleaning. Allow your children to keep animals at home. Let your children choose their clothes and haircut by themselves. And explain me why I can not eat in front of the TV”.
(Pupils complete the sentences)
- Try….your kids.
- Be … when our friends come to visit us.
- Remember that we need…
- Allow children to…
- Children can choose their … by themselves.
8. At the end of the lesson let’s make the conclusion if being a teenager is easy or difficult and why.
Homework is to write an essay “Is it difficult to be a teenager”?
