Цели и задачи мероприятия.

  1. Приобщить учащихся к английскому языку и к культуре англоязычных стран (поэзия, музыка).
  2. Расширять у учащихся словарный запас по английскому языку.
  3. Развивать у учащихся произносительные навыки на английском языке.
  4. Развивать у учащихся артистические способности и музыкальный вкус.
  5. Развивать у учащихся чувство уверенности в себе и умение преодоления боязни выступления на публике.
  6. Способствовать повышению мотивации к творческой самореализации и формировать у учащихся потребность самосовершенствования в изучении английского языка.

Приложение 1

Dear friends! You are welcome to our annual Poetry Party. Today we’ve got together to spend some time in the marvelous world of the English poetry. We shall recite today the poems both by famous English poets and by the poets writing English. So, let us begin our party with the poem “Sing a Song of People” recited by Philimonov Dmitry, a student of the 9th form.

Sing a song of people walking fast or slow
People in the city
Up and down they go
People with their hats on 
Going in the doors
People with their umbrellas 
When it rains and pours
People walking singly
People in a crowd
People saying nothing
People talking loud
People walking smiley
Grumpy people too
People who just hurry 
And never look at you
Sing a song of people walking fast or slow
Sing a song of city people you see but never know

2. Professions (слайд 4, 5)

Everybody lives his life:
The actor acts, the inspector inspects,
The speaker speaks, the drivers drive,
The teachers teach, the children smile.
The writers write, the readers read,
The sun is right, the life is sweet,
And there is no end to it!

I am a lawyer, you are a baker,
She is a singer, he’s a dressmaker,
Nick’s an accountant, Ann is a cook,
And what do you do? Just look!

A piano is for pianist
A car is for mechanics.
An album–for designers
For captains–oceans liners.
For a dentist–a drill
And for all of us–good will.

3. We Have Fun with Our Friends (слайд 6)

Girls and boys come out to play,
The moon is shining bright as day,
Leave your supper and leave your sleep
And come with your playfellows into the street

Come with a whoop and come with a call
Come with a good will or not at all.
Come, let us dance on the open green,
And she who holds longest shall be our queen!

4. Going Shopping (слайд 7)

A department store is big
Shop assistants are so quick
Many things are in the shop
From the bottom to the top.
Belts and handbags, leather gloves,
Stylish dresses, jeans and scarves,
Metal buttons, buckles, thread
A panama and many hats,
Silver bracelets and gold rings
And a lot of hairpins.

5. F Lovely Face (слайд 8)

I know a face, a lovely face
As full of beauty, as of grace
A face of pleasure and of smile
In darkness it gives all the Light
A face that is itself like joy.
To see it I’m a happy boy
And I have a joy that I have no other.
This lovely woman is my Mother.

6. My Dog Chewed Up My Homework (слайд 9)

I’m glad to say my homework’s done.
I finished it last night.
I’ve got it right here in this box.
It’s not a pretty sight.

My dog chewed up my homework.
He slobbered on it, too.
So now my homework’s ripped to shreds
and full of slimy goo.

It isn’t much to look at,
but I brought it anyway.
I’m going to dump it on your desk
if I don’t get an A.

7. My Sister’s Always On the Phone (слайд 10)

My sister's always on the phone.
I never see her study.
She doesn't do her homework,
That’s why her grades are cruddy.
My sister's always on the phone,
But I don't think that's cool.
My sister is so popular
She’s flunking out of school

8. Bed in Summer (слайд 11)

In winter I get up at night 
And dress by yellow candle-light. 
In summer quite the other way, 
I have to go to bed by day. 

I have to go to bed and see 
The birds still hopping on the tree, 
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet 
Still going past me in the street. 

And does it not seem hard to you, 
When all the sky is clear and blue, 
And I should like so much to play, 
To have to go to bed by day?

9. Twinkle (слайд 12)

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky!

When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the traveller in the dark,
Thanks you for your tiny spark,
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And often through my curtains peep,
For you never shut your eye,
Till the sun is in the sky.

As your bright and tiny spark,
Lights the traveller in the dark,—
Though I know not what you are,
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.

10. My Motherland (слайд 13)

“Oh, Russia, I’m in love with you! 
Remember, Russia, you are great
 Not in the field of battles past
But in the green fields full of wheat
And forests, gardens, free of dust.
I love you deeply, dear land,
Your hills and rivers, sand on strand
Your songs and dances, lakes and seas
Your beasts and fish, birds in trees.
Your sunrise in a splendid sight
Which gives me always such delight!

11. Yours and Mine (слайд 14)

The sun, the trees, the grass, the sky
The silver moon that sailing by
The rain and dew and snowflakes white,
The flowers sweet and stars of night
The song of birds, wind whispering
Such lovely things to bear and see
Belong to you, belong to me.

12. Seasons of the Days (слайд 15)

Spring is a dawn
Refreshing and early,
Summer is the moon,
Hot and humid
Fall is the dark
Bronze and cooling
Winter is the night
Cold and tiring

13. Winter Pleasure (слайд 16)

What a wealth of jolly things,
Good old winter always brings!
Ice to skate on, hills to coast–
Don’t know which we like the most.
Games to play, corn to pop
Midnight seems too soon to stop!
Books to read aloud at night,
Songs to sing, and plays to write.

14. The Wood of Flowers (слайд 17)

I went to the wood of flowers,
(No one was with me)
I was there alone for hours
I was happy as could be
In the wood of flowers.
There was grass on the ground,
There were buds on the tree,
And the wind had a sound
Of  such gaiety,
That I was as happy
As happy could be,
In the wood of flowers.

15. Autumn (слайд 18)

Autumn is the season
When apples are sweet,
It is the season
When school-friends meet;
When noisy and gay,
And browned in the sun
With their books and bags
To school they run.

16. Winter (слайд 19)

This is the season
When mornings are dark
And birds do not sing
In the forests and park,
This is the season
When children ski
And Father frost
Brings the New Year Tree!

17. What Have They Done to the Seas? (слайд 20)

What have they done to the seas?
What have they done to the rivers, my friend!
What have they done to the trees?!
Well, they have turned all the seas into mud, my friend!
And they have killed all the fish in those seas!
And they have poured out their oil and their waste, my friend!
Cause they think they can do as they please.
And they have built their cities,
And they have made their roads,
And they will test their bombs till the world explodes
Into millions of little pieces.

18. I Shot an Arrow into the Air (слайд 21)

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

19. Falling Snow (слайд 22)

See the pretty snowflakes 
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops 
Soft and thick they lie. 
On the window ledges, 
On the branches bare; 
Now how fast they gather, 
Filling all the air. 
Look into the garden, 
Where the grass was green; 
Covered by the snowflakes, 
Not a blade is seen. 
Now the bare black bushes 
All look soft and white, 
Every twig is laden, 
What a pretty sight! 

Our poetic meeting is coming to an end and as usual we’ll close it with the song

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky (слайд 9)

I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do

They’re really sayin......I love you.

 

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow (слайд 11)

They’ll learn much more.....than I’ll ever know (слайд 12)

And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world (слайд 13)
