ХОД УРОКА

1. Оргмомент

–  I think that you know popular English song for children:

“Old McDonald has a farm, E-I-E-I-O,
And on this farm he has some cows, E-I-E-I-O…

– And we know a modern variant of this popular song:

“Old McDonald  has a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
And on his farm he has some comps, E-I-E-I-O.
With a comp, comp here and a comp, comp there,
Here a comp, there a comp,
Everywhere a comp, comp.”

– So, computer has become an important part of our life – some people can admire it, some can call it “devil”, but no one can deny it.
Today we will speak about the role of the Internet in our life. Today’s lesson is your project’s lesson.

2. Речевая разминка

– Do you know this place? In what country is it? Have you ever been there? / Would you like to visit it?
– Imagine that we are really in London. We know that the British like to discuss the weather. And now let’s discuss it. What can you say about the weather today in London?

– Now let’s read the pieces of poem “Remember… When…” And you homework will help you to translate it.

(На экране стихотворение, читаем его вместе и переводим)

Remember When…
A computer was something on TV
From a  science show of note.
A window was something you hated to clean

An application was for employment.
A program was a TV show.
A curser used profanity.
A keyboard was a piano…

Memory was something that you lost with age.
A CD was a bank account.
A site was only a place
And the net was for playing around.

Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file.

Log on was adding wood to the fire.
Hard drive was a long trip on the road.
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived.

Cut you did with pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider’s home
And a virus was the flu.

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head.
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash,
But when it happens they wish they were dead.

4. Повторение Reported Speech

– All our last lessons we spoke about Mass media.  And we know that the internet can be considered as Mass media too. A lot of adults think that the Internet is dangerous and useless for children and teenagers. Do you agree that the Internet is dangerous and useless for children?

– Let’s work in pairs. On your decks you have sheet of papers with some statements in direct speech. You should do them into reported speech and then read them both in direct speech and in reported speech.

1) Our teacher explained “The Internet can help children in their study”.
2) My friend said “The Internet is a wonderful place to meet new friends”.
3) My friend’s mother says “ The Internet  just takes children in virtual world”.
4) Our headteacher said “There must be special strict rules of using the Internet, especially – for children”.
5) Our government said (offered) “Parents must be responsible for the way their children use the Internet”.
6) Our teacher explained  “ The Internet doesn’t always give really truthful and correct information”.
7) All teenagers think “The Internet is not dangerous and useless for children and teenagers”.
8) All teenagers in TV show said  “The Internet is dangerous and useless for children and teenagers”.

5. Физминутка:

6. Защита проектов:  Internet as Mass media

– You know that today’s lesson is our project lesson. And you will represent your projects.
Today we should prove that the Internet can be considered as Mass media. And that we can not only find and read some information but also we can publish any information ourselves .

– Now let’s visit  our site. (Перечисление страниц сайта)
– Here you can see the page “Our Project” with small pages of  our group’s pupils .
– Let’s listen your telling about your project works. (Рассказы учащихся)
– O’k. You said that some of information was written by you and some was only translated from Russian. And this translation was done by you. And some of you copied it from another site. That’s why we can’t trust it, we can’t use it.  And we can’t trust any information from internet because very often it is not official and can be incorrect.
Trust, but verify  was a signature phrase adopted and made famous by U.S. president Ronald Reagan.
Reagan frequently used it when discussing U.S. relations with the Soviet Union. Reagan rightly presented it as a translation of the Russian proverb "doveryai, no proveryai" (Russian: Доверяй, но проверяй).

7. Итоги урока

– About what did we speak?
– Can we call the Internet Mass media? Why?
– Was today’s lesson useful for you? Why?
– What was the most interesting for you?

– You were very active today.
