Цели и задачи урока:

  1. Учебные: формирование знаний по теме, введение и актуализация лексики.
  2. Развивающие: развивать навыки восприятия речи на слух, чтения с извлечением конкретной информации, развитие устной коммуникативной практики, развитие ассоциативной памяти, внимания, реакции.
  3. Познавательные: познакомить с некоторыми фактами из истории Великобритании и других стран.
  4. Воспитательные: развитие уважительного отношения к истории другой страны и своей страны.

Оборудование: cards, pictures, CD.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент. Создание доброжелательной атмосферы.

II. Основная часть.

Epigraph:

  • every political system rests on some theory of ethics;
  • political discussion can be;

III. Фонетическая зарядка.

IV. Введение лексики.

  1. Poverty ['pɔvətɪ] – бедность, нищета.
  2. Suffering – страдание, боль, мука.
  3. Convent ['kɔnvənt] – женский монастырь.
  4. No devote oneself to smb, smth – посвятить себя кому-либо, чему-либо.
  5. Slums (the slums) – трущобы.
  6. Victim – victim ['vɪktɪm] – 1) живое существо, приносимое в жертву божеству, 2) жертва.
  7. Permission superior – лучший, более совершенный; превосходящий.

V. As British people have recently celebrated Guy Fawkes Night, let’s remember some facts.

VI. T: Today we are going to speak about politics and politicians. The topic both interesting and difficult.

- What are politicians? Give a definition.

VII. p. 61 Introduction. Read and find out if you were right.

What is the difference between a philosopher and a politician.

- What kind of people are politicians?

- And what are philosophers?

- What famous British, American and Russian politicians and philosophers do you know?

VIII. T: In 1724, Jonathan Swift wrote, "Whoever makes two blades of grass or two ears of corn grow where only one grew before serves mankind better than the whole race of politicians."

T: How do you understand his words?

In Europe farmers have done it and we produce enough food to feed the world. If only politicians could find a way to share it with those parts of the world where there is still famine.
