Цель урока: систематизировать и обобщить знания по теме: “Learning more about London”.
Задачи урока:
- Образовательные: обобщение лексического материала по теме, обучение аудированию, обучение устной речи.
- Развивающие: развитие коммуникативных навыков по теме, развитие творческих способностей учащихся, развитие памяти, внимания и мышления, развитие умения обобщать и делать выводы, повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка.
- Воспитательные: привитие навыка работы в малых и больших группах, воспитание уважения к культуре других стран.
Форма урока: урок-экскурсия.
Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, аудиозапись, магнитофон, раздаточный материал - задания для аудирования.
PROCEDURE
1. Warming up.
T: Good morning, children! How are you? S.: We are fine, thanks.
(All together) – Mind the clock and keep the rule: always come in time to school.
I try to do my best each day, in my work and in my play and if I always do my best-I need not care about the rest.
2. T: Students! Today we are going to have a talk about London, about London `s historical and modern sites, to learn information about life of people abroad. We`ll practice in reading, we will learn new words, puzzle our brains. (Слайд 1)

3. Work in chain, please.
P.1: Have you ever been to Westminster Abbey? P.2: Oh yes, I have. Have you ever been to the Houses of Parliament?
P3 : Oh, what a question to ask! Of course I have. Have you ever been to the Tower of London?
P.4: Why? I have been there many times. Have you ever been to the British Museum?
P5: No, I am sorry to say, I haven`t. Have you ever been to Buckingham Palace?
P.6: Oh, yes, I have. Have you ever been to Trafalgar Square?
P.7: Oh, what a question to ask! Of course, I have. Have you ever been to the National Gallery?

4.As you know London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit. These words we`ll meet at the lesson: Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgаr Square, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Tate Gallery, Madam Tussaud`s Museum, St. Paul`s Cathedral, MOMI, Hyde Park, St.James’s Park, Regent’s Park, Kensington Gardens.(слова на карточках )
5. Now let’s act out the dialogue between a tourist and his British friend.
– Ann, how do you like London?
-Oh, it`s very beautiful. I have already visited some famous places.
– What places have you visited?
- I`ve already visited Westminster and saw Big Ben.
– And have you visited the Tower of London?
- Yes, yesterday we went on the excursion to the Tower.
– The Tower is one of the most interesting places in London. And have you visited any museums?
- Not yet. Could you tell me something about them?
- Oh, yes. It`s the famous waxworks museum. You can meet there great characters of history and art and even the Royal family.
– Oh, it`s great. I think I`ll go there tomorrow. Let’s go together?

6. Let’s play a little. The game “Boasters”.
T.: Ann, Kate, Mike go to the blackboard! Ann will repeat an adjective. Kate will use comparative degree of the adjective. Mike will use the superlative degree of the adjective.

7. T.: Victoria Station is full of people and a visitor is quite helpless until a porter comes and says,
S : ”Can I help you , sir?”-’’Oh, yes. Could you get me a taxi?’’
- ’’Yes, sir. Here, I’ll take your bag.'' The visitor at once feels at home. He decides that if all Londoners are as helpful as this one he will certainly enjoy himself.
8. Beforehand you were divided into several creative groups which had the task to prepare the presentation of one of the topics. Our tour is unusual. You, tourists, will take an active part in our tour. You can see these places, listen to the information about them, you can do the tasks and you can also be guides. Please, begin.
P1: Good afternoon , ladies and gentlemen! My name is... I am your guide. Today we are going to listen to some information about London. (Слайды 3,4,5,6)

T.: We have visited today a lot of interesting places in London. Which of them do you like most of all?
10. Let’s do some morning exercises:

Another Day in the Life of the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth wakes up at 7 o’clock, has a cup of tea and reads the Times. Then she has a bath and gets dressed. At 8 o’clock she listens to BBC news and has breakfast with Prince Philip. After breakfast she reads personal letters and has an important business consultation with private Secretary and then works at government documents. At 1 o’clock she has a quick lunch in her private apartment in Buckingham Palace and at 2 o’clock leaves the Palace to open a new hospital. There she makes speeches, shakes hands and has a cup of tea. At 4.45 she is back at the Palace and works in her office. At 5.30 she receives foreign visitors and then has the final meeting with her Private Secretary. In the evening she goes to St. James Palace where she has a reception party and talks with 70 people. Then she goes back to the Palace and at 8.30 has dinner with Philip and a group of some businessmen. At 10 o’clock she watches television news and then read some of official papers and telephones some members of the Royal Family – just to see if all is well. At about 11 o’clock she goes to bed.
