Современный человек живет в многополярном мире и поликультурном пространстве, поэтому диалог цивилизаций, культур, традиций очень актуален.
В настоящее время целью обучения иностранному языку является формирование коммуникативной компетенции, включающей в себя как языковую, так и социокультурную компетенцию, ибо без знания социокультурного фона нельзя сформировать коммуникативную компетенцию даже в ограниченных пределах. Изучение иностранного языка призвано сформировать личность, способную и желающую участвовать в межкультурной коммуникации. Но такую личность невозможно формировать без знаний о социокультурных особенностях страны изучаемого языка.
Формирование социокультурной компетенции неразрывно связано с основными целями образования: практической, развивающей и воспитательной. И воспитательная задача наиболее значима, поскольку от решения этой задачи зависит формирование в современном молодом человеке чувства патриотизма и чувства интернационализма. Изучая английский язык, мы формируем культуру мира в сознании человека. Мы изучаем и сравниваем языковые явления, обычаи, традиции, искусство, образ жизни народов.
Изменение статуса иностранного языка в системе школьного образования повлекло за собой перестановку приоритетов в работе учителей, переосмысление методики преподавания. Обучение иностранному языку в современном обществе выходит за рамки понятия “овладение иностранным языком” как умение понять собеседника и выразить свои мысли, а также извлечь информацию из текста. Задача учителя иностранного языка сегодня (в соответствии со стандартами) заключается в обеспечении условий для приобщения учащихся к иноязычной культуре и подготовке его к эффективному участию в диалоге культур. Иноязычное образование есть передача иноязычной культуры, т.е. той части духовного богатства народа другой страны, которую способен дать человеку сам процесс обучения иностранному языку.
Сформированность социокультурной компетенции как способности понять и принять другую культуру становится необходимым условием успешной коммуникации в современном мире.
Разработка урока для учащихся 7 класса
(Pre-Intermediate)
Цель: развитие социокультурной компетенции.
Задачи:
- учебная: развивать навыки различных видов чтения (общее понимание прочитанного, понимание запрашиваемой информации, понимание структурно-смысловых связей текста) и лексико-грамматические навыки.
- развивающая: развивать внимание, умение применения полученных знаний в конкретной ситуации.
- воспитательная: прививать интерес к культуре, традициям англоязычных стран, развивать социокультурную компетенцию, любознательность.
Формы работы: фронтальная, парная, групповая, самостоятельная с последующей проверкой.
Технологии: технология развивающего обучения, технология коллективного обучения иностранному языку, компьютерные технологии
Тип урока: урок совершенствования знаний, умений, навыков
Технические средства и оснащение урока:
интерактивная доска, компьютерная презентация(карта штата Колумбия, вид города Вашингтон, достопримечательности города: Белый Дом, Капитолий, библиотека Конгресса США, Мемориал Линкольна, памятник Джоржу Вашингтону, аудиозапись песни).

– Good morning, everybody! Glad to see you, dear friends! Let's start our English lesson.
– Today we have a chance to go on a virtual excursion to a famous town, the capital of the USA. Have a look at the map. The capital of the United States Washington is situated in the district of Columbia. (Cлайд 1)

It was founded in 1790. The capital stands on the northern bank of the river Potomak. The area of the city is 177 square kilometers. More than 6 thousand people live in Washington. More than 400 thousand visitors come to the city every day. (Cлайд 2)

Washington is the capital of the United States of America . It is situated in the District of Columbia and is like no other city of the USA . It’s the world’s largest one-industry city .And that industry is government . The White House , where the US president lives and works , the Capitol , the home of the US Congress , and the Supreme Court , are all in Washington .
Washington was named after the first US President George Washington . He selected the place for the capital and Pierre L’Enfant , a French engineer , designed the city .
Washington was first settled in 1790 and since 1800 it has been the Federal capital Washington is one of the most beautiful and unusual cities in the United States . In the very centre , is the huge dome of the Capitol-a big white dome standing on a circle of pillars . The 535 members of the Congress meet here to discuss the nation’s affairs it’s easy to get lost in this huge building full of paintings and statues .
Not far from the Capitol is the Library of Congress , the largest library in the States . It contains more than 13 million books , more than 19 million manuscripts , including the personal papers of the US presidents.
The White House is the official residence of the US President . He works in the Oval Office .
One can hardly find a park , a square or an open area in Washington without a monument or a memorial . The most impressive and the best-known ones are the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument .
There are some important museums in Washington where you can see all kinds of things : famous paintings and sculptures , the dresses of president’s wives , the original of the Declaration of Independence , the largest blue diamond in the world, etc. There are 5 universities in Washington .
There are no skyscrapers in Washington , because they would hide the city’s many monuments from view . No building in the city may be more than 40 meters tall .
Thousands of tourists visit Washington every day . People from all parts of the United States come to see their capital .
