В наше время изучение английского языка является особенно актуальным, что обуславливается все более ярко вырисовывающейся тенденцией развития международных связей и отношений России со странами всего мира. Английский язык является связующим звеном между представителями различных стран, которые имеют определенного рода общие интересы и цели. Поэтому, сегодня перед учителями английского языка стоят важные задачи: привлечь особое внимание детей к изучению языка, поддерживать интерес учащихся к нему, постоянно мотивируя их на различных этапах обучения.

В связи с этим проведение недели английского языка в школе приобретает особую роль – она помогает достичь этих целей, но для этого ее необходимо определенным образом спланировать, создавая условия для раскрытия творческого потенциала ребенка, который, возможно, не может быть раскрыт в рамках урока, а также учитывая особенности возраста школьников. С развитием информационных технологий, в наше время, эти условия можно создать с помощью мультимедийного сопровождения всех мероприятий. Также не стоит забывать о традиционных творческих групповых работах, таких как создание стенгазет, подготовка сценок, чтение стихов, исполнение песен и т.д. Ко всему прочему, это вырабатывает в ребенке уважение к культуре других стран, в частности к странам изучаемого языка. Проведение конкурсов, викторин также повышают интерес учащихся к языку и порождают среди них здоровую конкуренцию, которая призвана улучшить коммуникативные способности учеников. Вообще, вся неделя в целом должна способствовать тому, чтобы школьник мог применять знания языка во многих сферах жизни, и чем таковых больше – тем лучше.

План мероприятий, проводимых на неделе английского языка, может быть следующим:

Понедельник. Открытие недели английского языка – торжественная линейка; поздравление директора с открытием недели английского языка (оно должно быть обязательно (хотя бы частично) на английском языке); выступление руководителя ШМО и объявление плана мероприятий на каждый день недели английского языка; кроме того, красочное объявление о неделе английского языка и плане мероприятий висит при входе в школу. Конкурс чтецов. Конкурс стенгазет на тему «Great British writers» (вывешиваются, оцениваются в течение недели – в заключительные день объявляются итоги).

Вторник. Игра по станциям для 5-6 классов. Игровая программа для начальных классов.

Среда. Викторины по странам изучаемого языка для всех классов (6-9 классы). Проектные работы учащихся на тему «Sights of the English-speaking countries» (10-11 классы).

Четверг. Конкурс театральных постановок.

Пятница. Закрытие недели: подведение итогов, награждение. Заключительный концерт.

Задания, которые можно предложить для учащихся начальной школы:

1. Учимся приветствовать и знакомиться друг с другом.

2. Учитель раскладывает на столе карточки с буквами (буквами вниз), ученик вытягивает и называет слово на эту букву.

3. Guess the meaning (развивает и формирует навыки достижения смысловой эквивалентности иностранных слов).

Предлагаются следующие слова: radio, orange, zoo, kangaroo, television, popcorn, piano, milk, telephone, tiger, artist, actor, computer, photo, tomato, giraffe, computer и др.

(тот, кто угадывает слово – получает жетон)

4. Игра «Setting the table» («Накрываем на стол»).

Каждому ребенку раздаются: салфетка, пластмассовые тарелка, чашка, блюдце, вилка, ложка, нож.

Дети называют все эти предметы по-английски (тот, кто называет первым – получает жетон).

Далее учитель говорит: «Let`s set the table» (давайте накроем стол). Он дает указания, а дети выполняют указания («Take you napkin», «Put your napkin on the table», «Take your plate», «Put your plate on the napkin», «Take your knife», «Put your knife on the napkin» и т.д.).

После этого как столы будут накрыты, дайте команду: Eat! Дети выполняют команду, изображая процесс еды.

Тот, кто повторит процесс накрывания стола самостоятельно, произнося вслух каждое указание – получает жетон (по желанию).

В конце всех конкурсов определяется победитель и призеры по количеству жетонов, им вручаются призы.

В 6-7 классе можно провести викторину «The UK».

Игра по станциям состоит из 5 заданий-станций.

1) Translating. Команде каждого классе выдаются таблички с идиомами и примером их использования, которые они должны перевести (правильно переведенная идиома+пример – 2 очка, только идиома – 1 очко):

  • Feel at home – чувствовать (себя) как дома.

Example: Come on in. Sit down and feel at home.

  • To be rich in – быть богатым чем-либо.

Example: London is very rich in its parks and gardens.

  • All right – хорошо.

Example: Everything is all right.

  • As one – все как один.

Example: Pupils stood up as one after teacher came to the class.

  • At first – вначале, с начала.

Example: At first it was difficult for me to read that English book.

  • Day after day – день за днем, каждый день.

Example: Day after day John as to do the same work.

  • Do one’s best – стараться, делать все возможное.

Example: We do our best to get good marks.

  • Make a bed – заправлять постель.

Example: My sister is very lazy. She doesn’t like to make a bed.

  • Tail between one’s legs – быть побежденным.

Example: He lost the competition and went home with his tail between his legs.

  • As usual – как обычно (по обыкновению).

Example: As usual, they go to the gym after the lessons.

2) В предложенных слова перемешаны буквы, команды классов должны разгадать, что это за слова (1 слово – 2 очка).

  1. LAORETIN – RELATION.
  2. BLESISERPON – RESPONSIBLE.
  3. LOOSCHRELDINCH – SCHOOLCHILDREN.
  4. UMESMU – MUSEUM.
  5. TUNEVADRE – ADVENTURE.

3) Rhymes. Подобрать рифмующиеся слова (1-2 слова – 1 очко, 3 и более слов – 2 очка).

  1. Well – sell, bell, hell, tell.
  2. Fight – right, night, sight, write.
  3. Miss – kiss.
  4. Last – past, fast.
  5. Group – soup.
  6. Wood – good, mood, rude.
  7. Wall – tall, ball, hall, all.
  8. Sad – bad, mad, Dad.
  9. Go – so, know, throw, no.
  10. Keep – sleep, deep.
  11. Run – gun, done, fun.
  12. Say – may, day, lay, way.
  13. Bird – word, third.
  14. Sing – wing, ring, ping.
  15. Situation – invitation, graduation.

4) Из слова необходимо за отведенное время составить как можно больше слов (победившей команде – 3 очка, второе место – 2, третье – 1).

  • UNDERSTANDING.

5) Из перечисленных слов необходимо составить предложения с учетом знака в конце предложения (1 предложение – 2 очка).

  1. pancakes have, we, didn’t, any, Christmas, for. (We didn’t have any pancakes for Christmas.)
  2. you, flat, new, have, all, conveniences, do, modern, in, your? (Do you have all modern conveniences in your new flat?)
  3. the, has, professor, got, knowledge, history, of, excellent. (The professor has got excellent knowledge of history.)
  4. king, have, the, didn’t, any, then, power, real. (Then the king didn’t have any real power.)
  5. advice, always, she, good, has, for, got, everyone. (She has always got good advice for everyone)
  6. they, have, do, food, any, for , special, Easter? (Do they have any special food for Easter?)
  7. he, have, a, new, will, hat, birthday, for, his? (Will he have a hat for his birthday?)
  8. baker, a, usually, got, has, work, a, of, lot. (A baker usually has got a lot of work.)
  9. have, an, got, to, party, the, invitation, they? (Have they got an invitation to the party?)
  10. her, have, any, doesn’t, manners, child, table. (Her child doesn’t have any table manners.)

Класс-победитель определяется по количеству набранных очков.

Для конкурса театральных постановок классы готовят сценки на английском языке. Например,

Little red riding hood.

LRRH: My name is Little Red Riding Hood. Hello.

Mother: Little Red Riding Hood! Where are you?

LRRH: I am here, Mother. What’s the matter?

Mother: Little Red Riding Hood! Today is your grandmother’s birthday. Take a cake, some apples and a jug of honey to her.

LRRH: All right, mum.

Mother: Don’t speak to anybody on the way. Don’t stop in the wood. And don’t pick any flowers or mushrooms there.

LRRH: All right, mum. Good-bye.

Mother: good-bye, darling.

(Little Red Riding Hood goes out.)

(Little Red Riding Hood in the wood.)

LRRH: How nice it is in the wood. There are many trees, flowers, mushrooms. I’ll flowers for my granny

(The wolf appears.)

The wolf: I am big and grey. I live in the wood. I want to eat up Little Red Riding Hood. (Goes up to Little Red Riding Hood.) Good morning, to Little Red Riding Hood.

LRRH: Good morning, Mr. Wolf.

The wolf: Where are you going, Little Red Riding Hood?

LRRH: I’m going to my grandmother. It’s her birthday today. I take a cake, some apples and a jug of honey to her.

The wolf: Where does she live, your granny?

LRRH: She lives in a little house in the wood near the river.

The wolf: Is it far from there?

LRRH: No, it is not.

The wolf: Well, good-bye, Little Red Riding Hood.

LRRH: Good-bye, Mr. Wolf.

(The wolf comes to Granny’s house and knocks at the door.)

Granny: Who’s there?

The wolf: It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood.

Granny: Come in, darling.

(The wolf runs to Granny and wants to catch her up, but she runs away. The wolf puts Granny’s dress and cap and lies in bed. Soon Little Red Riding Hood appears near Granny’s house.)

LRRH (singing):

Clap, Clap, Clap,
Rap, Rap, Rap,
I’m knocking at the door,
Tap, Tap, Tap.

The wolf: Who’s there?

LRRH: It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood.

The wolf: Come in, my dear.

LRRH: Good morning, Granny.

The wolf: Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood.

(Little Red Riding Hood puts the basket on the table and comes up to Granny’s bed.)

LRRH: Many happy returns of the day!

The wolf: Thank you, my dear.

LRRH: What big eyes you have, Granny!

The wolf: The better to see you, my dear.

LRRH: What big ears you have, Granny!

The wolf: The better to hear you, my dear.

LRRH: What sharp teeth you have, Granny!

The wolf: The better to eat you up.

(And the wolf jumps out of the bed and wants to catch Little Red Riding Hood.)

LRRH: Help! Help!

(Granny and the hunter come in. The hunter shoots and the Wolf falls down.)

Granny: Oh, thank you very much!

The hunter: Oh, It’s really nothing.

Granny and the hunter and Little Red Riding Hood: That’ the end of the story.

Robin Hood.

Jester (поет речитативом) :

Once there was a lad that killed a King’s deer,
And gave its meat to his mother.
So he was to be hung at Nottingham Fair
And with him five another...

Guard: Listen! The Sheriff is coming to his castle in Nottingham!

Soldier (ведет арестованного): Where’s the Sheriff?

Guard: Here. What do you want? Who is this man?

Soldier: He is a Saxon. We caught him in the forest. He killed a King’s deer!

Sheriff: What? Did I hear correctly? Killed a King’s deer?!

John: We had no food. I had to kill it! I must feed my family!

Sheriff: How often must I tell you, people? The forest belongs to the King! The animals belong to the King! You mustn’t kill them! Hang him!

John: We were hungry. We had nothing to eat!

Sheriff: Take him away! You’ll be hung tomorrow!

(Открывается занавес – на сцене городская площадь, торговцы с корзинами, один из них торгует яблоками.)

Robin: Come and have a look! The best apples for a trifle! Take five-I’ll give you a knife! Take ten-you’ll get a hen!

Sheriff: What are you doing? Why do you sell apples so cheap?

Robin: My father left me a large apple garden, I don’t know what to do with the apples, so I give them to people.

Sheriff: Sell me your garden. Where is it?

Robin: Not far from here, sir. I’ll show you. But first I’d like to see the city.

Sheriff: What do you want to see? Here’s the castle and the prison. I’ve got five of Robin Hood’s men there. Come to the fair tomorrow and you’ll see us hung them.

Robin: Well, I’ll come tomorrow. And now follow me. (Уходят со сцены, занавес закрывается.)

Sheriff: We have gone so far, where is your apple garden?

Robin: We have come –here it is!

Sheriff: But this is not a garden – this is Sherwood forest! And there lives ....

Robin: Robin Hood? Yes, I do! (Снимает шляпу и плащ.) Welcome to my place! We’ve got a lot of apples over here. And here is one for you! (Достает яблоко и ставит на голову шерифу, занавес открывается, на сцене стоят лучники, нацелив луки на шерифа.)

How much would you pay for your apple? (Шериф дрожит от страха, достает кошелек, отдает Робину.)

Robin: No, it’s not enough, give us your ring also. (Шериф отдает свой перстень.)

Now you may go, but don’t forget you’ve got a lot of friends in Sherwood. Don’t leave your apple!

(Шериф убегает.)

Brothers (свистят ему вслед, затем танцуют и поют):

Hey-ho, brothers,
Our homeland is Sherwood,
With no King, with no Sheriff
Our life is very good! (Занавес.)

Jester:

The sweetest apples grow in Sherwood,
The sheriff will never forget,
He wants to catch our friend Robin Hood,
But never he will Robin get!

(Занавес открывается, на сцене Робин Гуд и его друг монах Так.)

Tuck: So what have you decided to do, Robin?

Robin: I’m going to Nottingham fair. You and the brothers follow me. Let’s see what we can do to save John and our men from the Sheriff.

Tuck: But how do you want to enter the city? Sheriff is looking for you everywhere!

Robin: Don’t worry, I’ll invent something.

Tuck: Good bye, Robin, take care!

Robin: Meet you at the fair, fat monk!

(Робин идет по лесу и встречает нищего.)

Robin: Good morning, poor man. Where are you going?

Robin: Wait! I don’t need everything! Pooh! Your shoes are so smelly! But here you are. Four gold coins and your new clothes.

Beggar: For me? New clothes and four gold coins? I feel like a new man!

Robin: You are a new man. And I am a poor beggar. Sorry, I must go. I should get to Nottingham quickly. Good bye and thank you!

Beggar: Thank you, good man. Thank you, Robin Hood!

(Народ собирается на площади, выходят солдаты, звучит музыка-входит шериф.)

Sheriff: Quiet! You know the law! These men are criminals! They killed the King’s deer! They must die! Who of you will come and kill them? I give forty gold coins to the man who hangs them. But remember, he must be a Saxon, because according to the law only Saxons can kill Saxons.

Robin: I’ll hang them for that money.

Sheriff: Are you a Saxon?

Robin: Ye, I am. Give me the money and I’ll hang them gladly!

Sheriff: Here is your money. Hurry up, hang them! (Барабаны.)

Robin: Stop. First I must hear their confession. It’s also a law, isn’t it, Sheriff? (Подходит к лесным братьям, стоящим в толпе с закрытыми капюшонами лицами, шепчется с ними.)

Sheriff: Come on. Perform your job quickly, beggar. I want to have my dinner.

Robin: Dinner? Some more apples for dinner, Sherif? (Достает рожок, дает сигнал, люди в толпе снимают капюшоны, набрасываются на стражу, освобождают братьев, все убегают.)

Sheriff: Catch them, why are you staying here? The city is full of Robin Hood’s men!

Jester:

Ha-ha-ha! What a day!
Robin helped them to escape!
Ha-ha-ha!All Saxons laugh!
Robin Hood is our love!

Robin: Welcome to Sherwood, brothers! We need good shooters to fight the Sherif.

Tuck: Don’t worry. We’ll help your mother. We’ll send her food and money.

Brothers: Thank you, friends. We’ve always dreamt to stay with you and to fight for all the poor!

Robin: Let me introduce you my stuff. Here are my best shooters!

(Занавес открывается, братья поют и танцуют.)

Hey-ho, brothers,
We all live in Sherwood!
With no King, with no Sheriff
Our life is very good!

Robin: So these are my brave men!

Marian: And women!

Robin: And a woman- the most beautiful woman of Sherwood forest – Maid Marian.

Marian: Thank you, Robin. Don’t be so pompous! Half of your «brothers» are women!

Robin: What do you mean, Marian?

Marian: I mean what I say: half of your brothers are ... sisters! Girls, he doesn’t believe. Let’s persuade him! Our hero! Our glorious Robin! He thinks only men can fight properly! We also want to fight for freedom and justice! We don’t like just sitting at home changing nappies and cooking!

Tuck: Cooking! Marian, I want to eat again!

Marian: Then go and cook your meal yourself!

Tuck: But you must cook for me! You are a woman!

Marian: I must? Not in this play! Have you ever seen a law saying women MUST cook? So, go and find it, then I’ll cook for you. And meanwhile you may eat this. (Дает ему яблоко.)

(Поклоны.)

The turnip.

Grandpa: Oh, what a big turnip we have in our kitchen-garden. I want to pull it up. (Pulls the turnip.) One, two, three! It is too big for me. Granny, come here! Help me, please.

Granny: All right, grandpa. I’m coming.

Grandpa and granny (pulling together): One, two, three! One, two, three! No result. Oh, it’s too big for us!

Granny: Granddaughter, help us, please!

Granddaughter: All right, granny. I’m coming.

Grandpa and granny and Granddaughter: One, two, three! One, two, three! No result. Oh, it’s too big for us!

Granddaughter: Doggy, doggy, help us, please!

The doggy: All right, granddaughter. I’m coming.

Grandpa and granny and Granddaughter and doggy: One, two, three! One, two, three! One, two, three! No result. Oh, it’s too big for us!

The doggy: Pussy-cat, help us, please.

The cat: All right, doggy. I’m coming.

Grandpa and granny and Granddaughter and doggy and the cat: One, two, three! One, two, three! One, two, three! No result. Oh, it’s too big for us.

The cat: Mouse, mouse, come here, help us, please.

The mouse: All right, pussy-cat. I’m coming.

The turnip: Here I am!

All (together): Oh. What a big turnip we have!
