2. Listening. (Jigsaw listening)
Group A: You will hear David Show, who lives in north-west of England, talking about his only daughter, Jackie.
Group B: You’ll hear Jackie, David Show’s daughter, talking about her life in London.
Task: Read and answer the questions as you listen. The problem is that you can’t answer all the questions. To be able to answer all the questions you’ll exchange information after listening. After that you’ll have a written work.
(на доске)
- Why did Jackie come to London?
- When did she come?
- Where is she living?
- Who is she living with?
- What’s she doing in London?
- What does her boyfriend do?
- What does she do at the weekend?
- What does she think of living in London?
- How often does she keep in touch?
- What does she think of her parents?
Answer keys:
says she came to London because she wants to be a professional dancer,
and the best schools are in London.
Her father says he doesn’t know why she went.
Her father doesn’t say.
Her father thinks she’s living with her boyfriend.
Her father thinks she’s doing a sort of ballet course.
Her father says Tony doesn’t have a job.

Her father says she doesn’t phone very often.
Her father thinks that she would like to come back home.
(While Group A listens Group B is out of the classroom.)
3. After - listening activities
a) After listening the members of each group get together and discuss the information from the tape in their groups. After that students exchange information, answering the questions, which were given on the monitor before listening - Talking Line.

Could you tell me...? Tell me...?
Can you tell me...?
+ special word + SVOPT
(Сначала ученики группы А задают вопросы - 3 перехода. Затем ученики группы В рассказывают всё, что они услышали на кассете - 3 перехода)

1. Is Jackie’s father right to be so worried about his daughter?
(I think not. Jackie is 18 and she behaves rather wisely. Life is more exciting
for her than dangerous. He doesn’t seem to know his daughter well.)
2. Was Jackie right to leave home at eighteen?
(She was.)
3. Are you ready to live alone?

So much for the listening comprehension task. Let’s pass over to the written task on word formation.
