СЛАЙД №1

Введение в тему урока.

1. Т: Good afternoon. Today we are going to discuss the problem of environmental protection.

You know that people all over the world are worried about our environment. Today the ecology is very important. Children, do you know what does the word "ecology" mean?

СЛАЙД №2

Ecology is a science about nature and about relation of man with it.

  • Practically, it is a science studying whether we, human being, keep our common house, our planet Earth, in a good state and how we use the gifts it is giving us: water, air, land, plants, animals and minerals.
  • Ecology is a science which studies the relationship between all forms of life on our planet with its environment.

Children do you know what the main environmental problems are?

СЛАЙД №3

  • Air pollution, smog, water pollution, destruction of natural resources.
  • The ozone layer protects the world from the sun's rays. The chemical used in aerosol cans, refrigerators, and other products are destroying this layer.
  • The factories burn coal to produce the energy that keeps our light on. That burning coal causes the greenhouse effect (парниковый эффект) and acid rains (кислотные дожди).

СЛАЙД №4

2. The Earth is our environment. Land, air, water are important for flowers, trees, animals, birds, fish and people. If we are not worried about the Earth, some ecological problems appear:

  • Air and water are polluted
  • Forests are cut down
  • Animals are damaged
  • Wildlife is disturbed
  • Litter is put into water
  • Health is spoiled
  • The water is polluted.

СЛАЙД №5

But what is happening now? With AIR, WATER and LAND. Let us make some conclusion (summarizing)!

СЛАЙД №6

3. Before we do the next exercise let us revise irregular verbs and the verb "to be":

I am
You are
He/she/it is
We are
They are

Leave - left - left
Throw - threw - thrown
Hurt - hurt - hurt
Break - broke - broken

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF OUR INFLUENCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT?

  • We pollute the air. - We change the climate.
  • When the air is polluted the climate is changed.
  • We leave a fire. - We destroy the forest.
  • When the fire is left the forest is destroyed
  • We throw away plastic bottles. - We damage nature.
  • When the plastic bottles are thrown away nature is damaged.
  • We leave litter in the forests. - We hurt animals.
  • When litter is left in the forest animals are hurt.
  • We break trees. - We disturb birds.
  • When the trees are broken birds are disturbed
  • We throw litter in the rivers and seas. - We cause water pollution.
  • When litter is thrown in the river and seas water pollution is caused.

Let us look and check your ideas!

СЛАЙД №7

4. You can often come across these international signs: Let's read and translate them.

Protect nature!

Keep off the grass!

Keep your country tidy!

Keep dogs under control!

Recycle!

Respect the life and work of the countryside!

Put your litter in the bin!

СЛАЙД №8

  1. British and American children learn a lot about the environment at school.
  2. All of them remember the three R's:

What can or must we

  • reduce? (уменьшать)
  • reuse? (использовать заново)
  • recycle? (перерабатывать)

THE MATCHING. Let us look and check your ideas!

  • We can reduce using electricity.
  • We can reduce using water.
  • We must recycle cartons.
  • We must reuse glass bottles.
  • We can recycle newspapers.
  • We must recycle paper.
  • We can recycle plastic containers.

All these actions help to reduce pollution, deforestation and not to damage the nature.

The pause to relax

СЛАЙД №9

6. "To hurt the Earth is to hurt yourself". Do you agree with this statement? Why? Why not? Give your examples.

СЛАЙД №10

7. 22 April - Earth Day. Do you know this holiday? There are over 300 nature centres in British cities. There are a lot of environment groups: Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and others. What are these groups' concerns? Translate their mottoes!

Greenpeace

  • It is an international environmental organization, started in the 1960s in Canada. It has a policy of non - violent direct actions. Greenpeace message is "When the last tree is cut down and the last fish killed, the last river poisoned, then you will see that you can't eat money."

СЛАЙД №22

10. Are you worried about nature?

The Earth is more than the place we call home. The Earth is our environment. It means that the land, air, water and wildlife that surround us affect the way we live. And the way we live affects the natural world outside our front door. A lot of people understand this and see urgent environmental problems. 52% think that water pollution is a problem. 43% think that when trees are cut down it is a problem. Air pollution is a problem for 32%.

СЛАЙД №23

11. Who is in Charge of the Planet? Children, do you like our country and our district? Do you want to see our motherland clean and tidy?

A lot of people think about the future of the planet. Some people take care of animals, others take care of birds, others are in charge of forests. Our Russia is nice and beautiful. It is large. There are some ecological problems in our area. What are they?

P1: I want to be first. Paper comes from trees. If we don't recycle paper, a lot of trees are destroyed. The countryside is spoiled. People cut down trees. Fires are started. We like flowers very much, but people shouldn't pick wild flowers. If trees are destroyed and people pick flowers and grass, birds and animals may disappear.

P 2: We throw away too much and in the wrong place. We leave litter near the river. The water is polluted and the fish in the river die. Local industry pours its waste into the rivers. The cleaning structures don't work well. People, help to keep all water clean!

P3: We should keep Krasnoyarskiy district tidy. It is our home. We must take care of it for ourselves and for future generations. There are many rare animals in our peninsula. Children from our school know them well because we have an excellent school museum. It's wonderful. Children, take care of birds and animals!

P4: Most of our lakes and rivers are rubbish near our town. I think that our factories and people do it. They throw away chemicals, old things, paper, clothes, toys, bottles and plastic bags. Maybe they don't know the 3R rules: reduce, re-use, and recycle. It's a pity! People, take litter home!

СЛАЙД №24

12. T: We've already spoken about ecology and the importance of keeping the environment clean. Pollution is getting worse and worse. But there is always hope. Would you like to join to this society?

P1: I think the idea of starting up a Save the Planet Society for Children is great and very useful

Р. 2: We would like to join the SPSC. We are worried about our town.

P3: We suggest some important rules to protect the environment.

P4: We could design posters telling people about ecological problems.

T: Our short discussion is over. I'm sure that you're real friends of our planet. We all must do what we can to keep the air, water and land clean. You know that people all over the world are worried about our environment. The issue of ecology is important.
