Girl: The method of choosing sweethearts of St. Valentine's Day varied in different times and places. It could be a serious matter leading to marriage, or it could be a kind of game. Counties generations of young people have acknowledged St. Valentine as the friend and patron of lovers.
Boy: What kind of holiday is St. Valentine's Day?
Girl: St. Valentine's Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in many European countries and in the USA. (Слайд 6)

Boy: One of the early symbols of love is Cupid, the Roman God of love, who is represented as a young boy with a bow and arrow.
THE STORY OF CUPID
Author: Once upon a time there lived one of the most beautiful goddess Venus and her son Cupid: Wherever Venus went Cupid went too. He was a gay little god and he liked to see people happy. He went around shooting gold-tipped arrows into the hearts of humans. Then they fell in love. Venus, his mother, had a golden mirror. She looked into it every day.
Venus: How beautiful I am. My face is the most beautiful face in the world.
Cupid: Yes, Mum. I know you are very wonderful and nice.
Author: One day Cupid found his mother crying.
Cupid: What’s the matter, mum? What has happened? Why are you crying, my dear?
Venus: Alas, I have lost my golden mirror.
Cupid: What shall I do? Stop crying, I’ll help you I’ll go in search of the mirror. I’ll look for it. I’ll find it don’t worry.
Author: He looked here and looked there, but he couldn’t find it. Then he flew over a meadow where some sheep were grazing. Among the sheep stood shepherd.

В последнее время о нем все чаще и чаще стали вспоминать. 8 июля (25 июня по старому стилю) православная церковь чтит память Святых Петра и Февронии Муромских, покровителей любви и семейного счастья. В России праздник в честь святых Петра и Февронии Муромских, олицетворяющих в русской культуре супружескую любовь и верность и издревле считавшихся на Руси покровителями семьи и брака, отмечался очень широко. В этот день было принято посещать храмы, где молодые люди в своих молитвах просили о любви, а люди постарше – о семейном согласии. День Петра и Февронии считался счастливым для заключения брака.

Игра "Mend a Broken Heart"
В игру играют парами. Необходимо заранее разрезать сердце на две части так, чтобы разрез был неровный. Одна половинка прикрепляется на доске, другую надо повесить с закрытыми глазами так, чтобы получилось одно целое.
Игра "Correct the Mistakes"
Для данной игры ученики делятся на пары. Каждая пара получает карточку с заданием «Исправь ошибки». Для выполнения задания учащимся дается 2-3 мин. Побеждают те дети, которые быстро и правильно выполнили задание.

Затем определяются победители среди болельщиков. Они получают жетоны.
