I. Сообщение цели урока.
Today we are going to read about the places in London connected with the Royal Family. Then we’ll study the family tree of the British kings and queens who lives now.
II. Речевая разминка.
When you read the text about the Royal Family, you met a lot of Proper names. First of all let’s learn how to read them. Look at the screen. (Слайд №2) You can also find them in your textbooks ex. 18. p. 122
Listen and repeat the words after the speaker.

Now read the words again one by one.

Open your textbooks, look through the text and read out the sentences with these words.

Ответ: There are many places in London connected with the Crown. There royal palaces, royal parks, roads and streets where beautiful ceremonies are held.
2. Which building is the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II?
Ответ: The official residence of the Queen is Buckingham Palace which is the most important building in London. (Слайд 4) Buckingham Palace
3. Where are royal processions usually held in London?
Ответ: Royal processions usually are held along the Mall, a wide avenue in the centre of London.
4. How many royal parks are there in London? Can you name some of them? What can you say about them?

Ответ: In the history of Britain there were certain Kings and Queens whose names are specially remembered in the country and are well-known in the whole world: King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II.
Учитель : Let us talk about these Kings and Queens.
7. Why is King Henry VIII remembered in the county and in the whole world? Can you prove that he was a very important monarch?
Ответ: Most people remembered him only because he had six wives. But he was a very important monarch and did a lot of for the country. Under him Britain became independent of the Roman Catholic Church, it got richer and more powerful. (Слайд №11) Henry VIII.
Учитель: That’s really true. Henry VIII had 6 wives . They were Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr. They were not lucky. They died or were killed by Henry VIII. (Слайд 12, 13) Henry’s wives.
There is a little rhyme British kids learn to remember what happened to each of Henry’s wife:
“Divorced, beheaded, died,
Divorced, beheaded, survived.”
Shall we learn this rhyme too?

8. Why was Queen Elizabeth I remembered in the history of Britain?
Ответ: During Queen Elizabeth I England became very important in European politics and the country became very powerful. (Слайд 14) Elizabeth I.
9. You know that another strong Queen was Queen Victoria who came to the throne as young woman in 1837 and reigned until her death in 1901.She ruled the longest period in the English history, for 64 years! What do you know about her family life?
(Слайд 15, 16, 17) Victoria.
Ответ: She married a German Prince Albert, whom she loved very much, but he died at the age of 42. Queen Victoria had 9 children.
10. What places in London are connected with Queen Victoria?
Ответ: There is a monument in front of Buckingham Palace. (Слайд 18) Monument.

I want you to work in pairs. Look at the screen (or page 127 of the student’s book). You can see the family tree of the Windsors. First of all let’s read all the names correctly.

Let’s hold a competition and work in groups. We’ll divide into 2 teams. You have to find more information about the Royal family. One group will ask a question from the section “b” p.128 and the other will answer it. They you will change over. Don’t forget about word order in your questions?
