Цели урока:
образовательная – ознакомление учащихся с политическим устройством, географическим положением, историей и обычаями страны изучаемого языка; развитие навыков чтения, аудирования и говорения;
воспитательная – включение учащихся в диалог культур, развитие эмоциональной сферы, воспитание чувства взаимопомощи, коллективизма, патриотизма; создание положительной мотивации к изучению английского языка;
развивающая – развивает речевые и творческие способности учащихся, интерес к учебе.
Задачи урока:
- обучение навыкам просмотрового чтения;
- обучение аудированию;
- совершенствование навыков говорения (диалогическая и монологическая речь);
- актуализация лексики и грамматики по теме.

Ход урока
1. Организационный момент
Warming-up talk.
Good morning, boys & girls. Glad to see you all today. How are you ? I hope you are very well.
Look at the screen, please. What`s the main topic to discuss today?
(The students can see the map of Great Britain)
Yes, you are right. We are going to talk about the UK. By the way, who knows what it means. Right, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
As you can see, Great Britain consists of 4 countries. They are: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
What is the capital of England? What other cities in England do you know? Have you ever been to England? Would you like to go to?
Today we have a chance to visit England and to know more about this marvellous country.
2. Let`s read the text and match the paragraphs with the pictures.

Цель упражнения: обучение просмотровому чтению.
Стратегия выполнения данного упражнения:
- Reading & matching.
- Pausing after each section for students to look at the pictures & the presentation.
- Teacher`s questions.
- What are the two oldest & most famous universities in England?
- What is typical for villages in the south of England?
- England is a home of sports. What kinds of sports are popular?
- What is the north of England famous for?
- What hobbies do English people have?
- Sum up your answers into a short story and tell us all you know about England from the text.
3. Let`s continue our work. Open your books on page 39. Учащиеся выполняют задание № 2.
Цель упражнения: обучение аудированию с частичным пониманием содержания.
Стратегия выполнения:
Pre-listening task:
- Look at the slide. You can see a typical ancient castle. Do you like the castle? Why?
- While-listening task : Listen to a boy (his name is James ) talking about his favourite place & answer the questions:
- Where is Tintagel?
- Why is it famous?
- What can you see there?
- Where might you see ghosts?
- What might you see every year?
- After-listening task
Now please tell us what you know about James`s favourite place.
4. Упражнение № 3, страница 39.
Цель упражнения: обучение умению работать в группах и по парам, обучение диалогической и монологической речи.
Стратегия выполнения:
- You know your group-mates Nastya and Victor have recently been to England and they enjoyed their visit greatly. Ask them as many questions as you can about the places. Учащиеся делятся на две группы. (Примерные вопросы: Where is it? What is it like? How many times have you been there? Why do you like it?)
- Say what you know about your friends` favourite places.
- Exchange your opinions about the places mentioned.
5. Подведение итогов и выставление оценок.
You`ve worked hard today and learnt a lot about England. Did you like the lesson? Why? What exactly did you find most interesting? How do you assess your progress yourselves? Who can get excellent marks?
